Got my mattress.

God I hope it helps, I had a miserable sleep last night :(

Surprised at how quick the Casper "expanded" to size. It said it's ready to use in minutes... and while that might be a bit optimistic it's definitely faster than the 12-24 hours that our Novaform said.

Anyone else getting hit hard by colds/bugs? Our daughter caught something for the second time this month and now my wife/myself are catching it. Just your standard fall/winter cold - but even with hand washing, masks, I swear she's just a magnet for them.

It's been at least two years since I've been sick. Pretty sure even a super mild cold will make me think I'm dying at this point.

Our entire house has been cycling through sickness for about six weeks. I work from home, my wife is masked up at her health care job at all times, and we are religious about wearing masks when out in public. Our daughter is four and goes to day care so all that caution is pretty much wasted.

You're preventing things from spreading from other sources to the day care, and reducing the spread of things from the day care to your wife's work - not at all wasted.

I've kind of really enjoyed not having any colds for the last two years, honestly. I don't know if/when I'm ever going to be truly maskless again.

Starting a loving amazing new job next week with lots of in person stuff, several meetings on the book at HUGE venues, for HUGE events - I want the booster but I'm having a hard time finding a location that has time - this makes me feel good-ish in the sense that a lot of folks are getting vaxd. new boss and another friend got got theirs last week and it really knocked them out. I'm a bit anxious about it. But big money job with potential to turn full time and do some awesome projects... making slightly more than before the pandy... feeling good-ish - son busted his lip open this am after a spill, shook it off after a bit of tears and blood, he looks like a prize fighter now - feeling good-ish that he's a toughy but bad-ish that he got hurt. Tried to hit home depot for some random stuff, forgot my wallet, had to put everything back - came outside, full on felony stop in the parking lot a few spaces from where I parked, yikes-ish. got blasted in the face by fuel at 50mph in a roadaster - that sucked, fixed it, it runs better so that doesnt suck.

there's a whole lot of -ish going on with me, but its all good-ish

hearing and being crammed with all this doomsday variant/political/world shattering stuff daily - taking its toll on me. I think a social media break is necessary

I try so hard but fail because of the same thing. My 3 year old brought something home that gave me a double ear infection that amoxicillin did not clear. A week later it spread to my inner ear. He was sick for like 2 days, I am 3 weeks in, can’t hear, on a more powerful antibiotic, probably getting tubes at 40. Still love him tho.

I worked from home today because I'm coughing. I also texted my hypochondriac friend and I was convinced to take a covid test, which was negative. Now I just get to go around being sick and looking suspicious when I cough into my mask.

I didn't get sick until a couple months ago for almost 2 years. And holy poo poo, did it make up for lost time. I don't think I'd ever been hit by a cold that hard.

But only happened once and Mrs. Slidebite didn't even catch it, which was a miracle.

(and can't post for 11 years!)

A couple of people at work have had colds. I started sneezing my loving head off today, feels like a standard cold right now. I have a couple of rapid tests if I need them.

I'm sure my installing ~BIG BROTHER~ cameras in every van hasn't helped - there's a few vans I've had to do here and there that couldn't be done in the initial round, generally right after the driver assigned to that van has finished for the day.

+1

I felt like death. We do the twice a week rapid tests so I know it wasn't covid but dang it hit me like a freight train.

Not been getting sick sick but since I'm back at work wearing a mask 8+ hours a day I've been getting gnarly tonsil stones.
It happened back when we first started wearing masks everywhere too but settled down somewhat.

Popping those nasty fuckers out is so gross but it gets to a point where I can feel them sticking out in the back of my throat and it's the only way to get any relief from it. Comes with a complmentery sore throat for a few days after.

Yesterday at the grocery store I saw two gems that AI would love. For reference, my Niro EV is in the background of the two wide shots.

I thought this was a Ferrari but then I saw the Corvette logo on the front, and this beast in the back:

Then I saw this:

Escort. Wagon. With extra headlights and a roof rack.

If possible, try to look for a time in a more conservative area. This helped me get the first round of shots.

I had to try multiple CVS/Walgreens before I found one with open slots for my booster. I guess that's a good part about having about 50 of them in a 50 mile radius. I had two ahead of me and two behind me when I showed up, got the Moderna and it made me about 1/2 as ill as the 2nd shot had back in May. Didn't feel sick & didn't have a fever, just felt a bit off and a lil achey.

When you haven't been acutally sick in so long, even a little twinge like this feels bad.

Congrats on the new job, I know the things have been kinda up in the air for a long time. And hey, you can stop selling stuff! Never sell, only buy.

My suggestion: avoid the "news" and social media (or seriously trim your content). I'm only on Instagram, and I don't follow many people or read much political stuff. However, you need a source of information about the actual news and what you need to know. If you find one, lemme know.

And boy oh boy do I wish I was in the terrible Adam Sandler (but I repeat myself) movie Click. My remote just needs 2 buttons: pause and play. I wish I could hit pause when my mom's holding my happy son for a few... Days? Weeks? I dunno.

So much this.

Clean up your social media, unlike/unfollow almost everything, unfriend anyone toxic, use the "hide all from..." function liberally.

I've cut down my FB to basically only follow local concert venues and festivals, everything else is gone and ignored. No Twitter, no Instagram, no anything else.

It's so nice.

Seconding this. There is a Chrome plugin called Unfollow Everyone on Facebook with One Click: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/unfollow-everyone-on-face/pijkodjelolnmbehifeokihlodnajela?hl=en

I did that on my main FB account and man... so much less drama and doomscrolling. It's easy to get sucked into the social rabbit hole, but man, you just don't need that poo poo.

If you use twitter, there's a block word feature that I wish more sites had. Though, that's probably why people reshare image posts now. :(

Basically all social media is on the cesspit spectrum. The exclusive image sharing ones are a little less so, but they are still infected by political discourse and bullshit.

I have a twitter account only because it's a great resource for news as it's happening, often directly from the source. I almost never post or anything though and limit what I look at.
