John Conway's "Game of life" is a very simple rule set that can create unpredictable and complex patterns. You can make designs and watch things happen as the pattern evolves, it's kind of fun especially from a 1970s perspective where it was either this or pong.

However, the Game of Life also happens to be Turing Complete, which you can read a lot about in wikipedia articles and neal stephenson novels. Among other things means that you can program Conway's game of lie within Conway's game of life.

The dialectical struggle of history has always, essentially, been a question of how to apply justice to matter. Take away matter and what remains is justice.
The human body is tubes.

If any of your tubes get blocked (digestive system, airway, blood vessels) you will die horribly and painfully. And yet we're the only species with nukes, and every single ancestor you've ever had... is tubes.

https://www.britannica.com/science/human-body/Basic-form-and-development posted:

In general structure, the human body follows a plan that can be described as a cylinder enclosing two tubes and a rod. This body plan is most clearly evident in the embryo; by birth, the plan is apparent only in the trunk region—i.e., in the thorax and abdomen.

The body wall forms the cylinder. The two tubes are the ventrally located alimentary canal (i.e., the digestive tract) and the dorsally located neural tube (i.e., the spinal cord). Between the tubes lies the rod—the notochord in the embryo, which becomes the vertebral column prior to birth. (The terms dorsal and ventral refer respectively to the back and the front, or belly, of an animal.)

Within the embryo, the essential body parts are: (1) the outer enclosing epidermal membrane (in the embryo called ectoderm); (2) the dorsal neural tube; (3) the supporting notochord; (4) the ventral alimentary tube, which becomes the lining of the stomach and intestine (in the embryo called endoderm); (5) the intermediate mass (in the embryo called mesoderm); and (6) a rather fluid tissue that fills the interspaces, derived from the mesoderm and in the embryo called mesenchyme. Everything in the body derives from one of these six embryonic parts

if we were two dimensional we couldn't have any tubes without being split in half

I don't think I'm smart enough to understand strange anymore.

it's counter intuitive that when shooting a target from a position either above or below that target, you have to aim bellow the target in both cases. I've read the "gravity distance" explanation and I can't reckon it, maybe I need a youtube video with a lot of bright colors and small words or this is one of those things that was discovered empirically and people cobbled explanations and functional trigonometric formula around it

I remember reading pop science magazines as a child in the 90s that were like gravitational waves are far to weak for humans to detect we will probably not be able to detect them without a huge Lagrange point laser array in space. LIGO is one of the coolest developments of this century imo
