This has been posted about a few times but didn't get its own thread.

If you don't recognize the name, she worked with Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch and was responsible for most of the female vocals in Twin Peaks. She was on the show herself (a few times I think, as well as the Fire Walk with Me movie) as a singer performing some of the show's theme music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-VRRVLGPC4

I also have the VHS that was released in the early 90's called "Industrial Symphony No. 1" that featured her singling while connected to a wiring harness that made it look like she was floating around the stage as she performed.

She was 65, and had depression, which sucks.

Rest in peace. :(

that's sad, she did great work. her airy vocals were perfect for twin peaks. not even james could compete with her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEn-mmFiYDs

it reminds me, i never watched the new season that came out a few years back. not sure why, because the original show is one of my all time favorites. i should get on that.

She was really good :(. I never watched Twin Peaks on its original run because it came out when I was too young to appreciate it but I ended up watching the full series as an adult and I can honestly say it is without a doubt my favorite first time viewing experience of any series of anything I've ever watched. Just me being constantly shocked and delighted while watching it.

The first time I watched the infamous scene that Julee Cruise is a big part of I was amazed. That's one of my favorite sequences of anything series in tv ever.

That loving sucks but also I don't blame her one bit. The world is a shitpile and if I didn't have a young child who depends on me I would go right along with her.

It’s amazing especially if you liked the movie but it’s a lot different tonally from the original two seasons

Cats.

Live for your child, but, also, to pet cats and make them purr.

Just a little but important reason IMHO (about the cats I mean).

In her case though, it article says she was depressed but also had lupus, which is where your immune system attacks healthy tissue all over your body (like having allergic reactions 24/7). So she was probably in a lot of pain which can only add to the depression.

That's so sad. I'm sorry for her friends and family's loss, and I'm sorry for our loss. She was incredibly talented and her vocals and musical work were an absolute necessity for Twin Peaks. Her other work was even better.

Yeah it’s one of my all time favorites. I discovered it in my teens when I was beginning to realize not all the music I listened to needed to be loud or angry or weird. Sometimes you just want to chill and float. On the right kind of day it’s the perfect mood. RIP Julee.

She just died? Wow. I didn't know that...She led an amazing life. What else can you say? She was an amazing woman, whether you agree or not. She was an amazing woman who led an amazing life. I'm actually sad to hear that.

This is a weird article:

https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/5535141/julee-cruise-death-husband-facebook-post/

Her death is a suicide, but, her husband was with her playing her music as she passed?

So was it an assisted suicide? Because she died in Massachusetts, which has laws prohibiting physician assisted suicide.

wtf?

i dont know where you got that it was a physician assisted suicide, the article doesn't say anything about a physician being there?

i think most likely what happened is she killed herself, and her husband was with her at the time and probably they talked about it/planned it well in advance, due to her illness

Being a woman and getting old super sucks extra and if I was in chronic pain and only gonna get worse I'd love an early exit.

My great aunt Martha lived to be 96 I think, everyone she knew and loved died except tiny little great grandchildren from her two kids that were all established far away from her.

Her husband preceded her in death in his sleep and she envied him and I understood that completely. I think she was probably brave like Robin Williams was brave and I don't know a thing about her

for what, playing a song while she died?

there's nothing in the article saying that he assisted her suicide or anything like that, just that he was there at the time and played one of her favorite songs for her. i dont think thats illegal. i guess if some prosecutor really wanted to be a dick they could charge him as an accessory but.. why?

Depending on the state they're in, it could be that there's an obligation to do something about it when you clearly know someone's about to die by suicide. At the very least any surviving family members may have a civil claim against the husband

It sucks but that's what a patchwork of state laws will do for you

she killed herself in a school, so nobody was under any obligation to stop her. case closed.
