I just turned down a good job with fantastic perks and salary. Better than most jobs I’ve had. Because they want me to do infrastructure as code and I hate that garbage. Its not code and its boring. I just want to be happy at work and I’m burned out. Please tell me I did the right thing.

It’s generally not a good idea to take a job you don’t want to do if you have other options. You did the right thing. Although I’m not sure validation from random internet strangers is that meaningful. If you find yourself needing that for big decisions, you may want to look in to why that’s the case.

Like it was a metric fuckton of money and it’s entirely possible I might have been perfectly happy at the new job but IaC is one of my least favorite things at the one I have.
