i'm not like anyone you've ever met - i eat between 2 and 3 meals a day and drink at least 7 cups of water. i sleep in a bed. it's been hard growing up different, but i've managed.

the first time I told my mom that before swallowing my food I like to grind it up into a soft wet paste with my teeth I wasn't sure how she'd react. I had prepared myself for anger, confusion, even disgust. but when she simply gave me the world's biggest hug and said she ate in just the same way-- that in fact everyone in our family ate that way-- I felt something I'd never felt before. I felt like I belonged.
