having just wrapped up their first US tour, SLIFT have a new single, "Unseen". it's fine, honestly it's not nearly as good as their albums have been, but it's fine.

a couple months ago, King Gizzard played here, and instead of seeing that band a second night, i saw that there was a "French metal band" playing at HQ. it was 20 bucks, which is a lot for a bar show, but holy poo poo, it was worth it. this is now my actual favorite band, at least my favorite band that is currently active.

i don't think i would even just call them "metal". they're more of a space rock band, in the vein of Hawkwind etc, but much, more loud, taking a lot of musical cues from like 80s and 90s stoner metal bands like Earth or Dead Meadow or Sleep. and also being very psychedelic.

anyway, i thought they deserved their own thread, since they're currently active and are so fuckin good

i like them and would love to see them live, they seem like they put on an amazing show. however, that first rec is almost too 'oh sees' for me. (i like OCS a lot, it's just almost too derivative)

Thread is dead, but the new album from these dudes just came out a month ago, and it rules!

I think I like it more than the Ummon album from 2020, as they mainly cranked everything up from that one.
