I took a look around here (Primm, on the Nevada / California border) on google maps, because, I really like looking at all sorts of maps and thinking about places, and with this in mind...

I fully expected a casino right on the border on the Nevada side here, since this is "how you get to Vegas" from the southern half of Cali, but I wasn't expecting a big store that only sells lottery tickets on the California side. As in, it's called "The Lottery Store", that's what they do, period. I guess despite Vegas being the gambling capital of the united states, there's no lottery or scratchers in Nevada, so people drive 40 miles from Vegas to Primm then 40 miles back to get a powerball ticket and some scratchers. It's nuts!

Keep in mind this isn't even a real town, just a few casinos / resorts, a truck stop, fast food, outlet stores, and a single apartment complex for employees on one side of the border, and the lotto store all by itself on the other. There's basically nothing else but empty desert for dozens of miles in either direction.

Rows of slot machines on the Nevada side, rows of scratcher machines on the California side!

I guess they get a little bit of a line when the powerball has a big jackpot...

sounds like a town op

I mean I wouldn't call it a town at all, it's pretty much just casinos and a couple of things, but it depends on your definition of a town. I haven't been to that one, but I've been to lonesome casinos all by themselves in the middle of nowhere, and, eh...

I guess you could call a small casino/hotel a town if you wanted. There's a place to stay, a place to work, and stuff to eat. And, you could probably fashion all your clothes out of souvenir T-shirts! lol

I just thought "The Lottery Store" was funny :)

Primm also has two monorails connecting the three hotel/casinos. It's a very odd place.

Thanks to Manifisto for the sig!
