We really need to stop hating or disparaging anyone for any belief political or otherwise as long as they aren’t advocating or trying to gently caress with your life (Looking at my fellow conservatives on that one) I don’t see the D’s and their ilk pulling legislative poo poo that fucks up peoples lives as the point of the legislation. It just works out that way because, well- Amerikkka. The R’s just say the quiet parts out loud and openly bey to gently caress with anyone they see as an “other” through legislation. I hate that we hate our fellow citizens just because we don’t agree on some issues. That’s dumb, we are grown rear end people… in theory we are capable of better. In practice we get Fox, OANN and MSNBC zombies who just like to get their 5 minutes of hate against the others with their news. It’s really sad honestly.

This is essentially the only leftist veteran organization I know of. And I’m not even a liberal and I love it here. Embrace this community. It’s full of some of the best (and worst (hi!)) people from the military.

I’m simplifying. We can converse without having to talk like college freshmen in poli sci 101, right? I’m not a liberal, and I don’t really know if I’d call myself a leftist, but I drat sure hate the modern American conservative movement with a passion. I know history goes further back than 3 presidents, but you can trace a line from the 2000 election steal, 9/11, Purestrain neoconservatives, Trump, and 1/6. And it’s not a curvy line.

Also, I get not making suicide jokes in the "get help" thread, but lets be real, the single most common joke on any ship I was ever on were self harm jokes, usually involving jumping down a ladder well / escape trunk / overboard. Moving on, No, every VSO or community club like organization I've ever come across has always been right leaning. Your best bet is to start a facebook group. Give it a generation and there might be some, but new member recruitment in all VSO's seems to be down substantially, Many of which are dying off, likely because as you said its a bunch of old fucks drinking cheap booze waiting to die. The ones I have joined were only due to them allowing smoking in the bar area inside, because they are old fucks and they arent down with the tobacco free zone laws. The AL in bath maine held an annual employee vote on weather or not to continue to allow smoking, but they always had the understanding that if they did so the members wouldnt go there anymore and theyd shut down/loose their jobs as a result. is it right? idk, but that was the reality of it. All the left leaning sailors I know have completely disassociated with the military, they dont have stickers on their cars, they dont wear ribbon rack hats or grunt style shirts. So I'd assume thats why theres no clubs. They all also usually got out before retirement, I know some liberal CPO's but they stick to their ilk anyways and wouldnt join some all hands organization, they are still active in their CPO only facebook groups tho. I completely agree, and want to apologize for coming in hot. I personally avoid most Vets because for every normal human, you get a half dozen guys living like Four Leaf Tayback from Tropic Thunder. The problem is that those are the types who want to run the show at the VFW/Legion/Whatever. I've never heard of Nation Service called McDonald's, but I'm here for it.

Welp, as ever we discover the actual problem was that we were talking past each other. FYI, suicide jokes are particularly frowned upon here in large part because my late wife was one of the 22 a day. Then a couple years later I lost my best friend. I don't see it as a punchline.

As for the OP, if Wall of Vets is still up and going, I'd reach out to them. They spun up in '20 and we provided physical security during protests in many different cities. Haven't heard much since stepping back in '21 though. Veterans for Peace or Veterans for Responsible Leadership I've come across representatives from each at different parts of the country and they've got some "left" aspects.

This is just what I pick up on from listening to US podcasts, so it may be no help at all, but here goes: Socialist Rifle Association and John Brown Gun Club seem to attract sensible veterans, though the number varies by branch. Some vets have gotten into a project called Unicorn Ranch, which raises alpacas and gives runaway queer teens a place to live, while organizing self defense because they're stuck in some red state hellhole with militia psychos around them. I know some US vets though, I'll try to ask them.
