I'm not even a big Star Trek fan (I just casually enjoyed the original series and never really had an interest to watch the rest of the shows and movies save for the Abrams ones) and I still find the doc to be enjoyable, if anything due to its showcasing of fan culture before it became one of the Internet's favorite things. On the merits of it as a documentary, Trekkies does its job very well.

My favorite scene has to be this one, where the guy is trying to figure out what parts he'll need to build a Nomad space probe and just the uncomfortable glances the Radio Shack employee keeps giving the camera.
