Y E S. I love Kung Fu movies. Years ago my friends and I held Friday Night Kung-Fu and took turns hosting and picking movies. I'm a big fan of Tony Jaa who pulls his inspiration from both Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan so his stuff is fast and fluid and clever. Ong-Bak is up there as is The Protector. :)

I have a soft spot for some of the shaw bros. movies. We used to just throw on Fist of the White Lotus all the time when we were bored.

PS this post is impervious to Flames because of the flame proofer. :)

lmao yes!!!!! i almost added that one to the op. i have a list of like 50 films i could easily share here.

the shaw brothers’ films are my favorites. extremely excellent movies. (my avatar is from the super inframan, which is a pretty significant movie in terms of costuming and storyboards for the studio.)

I like movies like Return to the 36th Chamber where the main character masters the everyday objects they use to the point they develop a fighting style.

drat, it's been at least a decade since I even thought about a kung fu movie, let alone watched one... They were always good, though!
Does Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon count? That's the only martial arts film I can recall watching, at the moment. I always liked how touching the ground in a fight was seen as being sloppy/poor form :v:

Kung fu movies are great and it's a shame that a lot of new Kung fu movies are the ip man films which are cool but have less skills being performed

I actually want to see more cuts and shaky cam, but focused on you, as you get kicked through a concrete wall and off a high rise penthouse.
