had gigabit fiber, dropped to 500 because it was cheaper and, outside of speed tests, nothing actually hit gigabit speeds

e: also, previously my isp only had the gigabit tier unmetered, now all fiber service is unmetered, so no sense in paying more for theoretical speeds

38/20 but at least it's free (wisp employer) and i have a /29

lte backup is prepaid reseller via sprint or something and good for about 14/3 with awful jitter so usually just leave it off

knox_harrington

Running no point.

it's sold as 10 gig but I have no devices capable of connecting at that rate. so 1 gig.

I have a holiday home which for the past few years has been running off a LTE router, surprisingly not too terrible but obviously sub optimal. Just discovered I can now get 1gb fibre installed there, gonna have so much internet.

i moved to a new house recently and got a 500/500 intro offer for $20/month for the first three months from some tiny ISP

I’ll probably downgrade to 100 or 200 Mbps after that because there’s no point in having more

being able to switch isps on demand on a ISP-neutral fiber network is pretty nice

what’s the motivation to getting one of these? won’t it just cause support issues if your ISP ever needs to get involved with an issue/outage?

it's one less thing to plugin and it just looks cool
if the internet goes down i would have to plug in the bell router to verify it wasn't the stick but i've had like 1 outage in 2 years that was national news
