This is why this series is so great. From deadly serious to 6'+ slab of muscle, slasher film antagonist-build Saejima meowing like a cat, getting a chisel to memorize poo poo by carving it into wood because he can't work a camera in a heartbeat without it feeling forced.

 Tanimura was even more of a twink in the original version. His voice actor/face model was accused of drug use so he got replaced in the remaster.

I really wonder what the writers were thinking with this whole "out the *real* murderer so Saejima can get free"-plot. Like sure, you'd get the 18 counts of murder off his record, which'd get him off death row maybe. But I doubt the Japanese legal system is like, "oh, you didn't actual kill them? Just lightly tried to murder 18 people? No biggie, we all have days like that, you can go free now, pinky promise you won't do it again".

Allegations of Tanimura's original actor's drug use didn't come out until 2016, 4 years after Yakuza 5, so it's unlikely that it played a role in him not coming back in that. Also, I doubt anyone is surprised Arai is a triple or even quadruple agent, but Kido?

It looks like Tanimura's counter move caused the bodyguards attacks to hit each other, shame it was still too hard to deal with all three being bunched together like that and that Munikata never had the chance of hitting any of his guards instead of Tanimura. But hey, you still beat 'em and are on to the next game!

Not quite, you have to complete all the non Kiryu training quests and then go to the fortune teller's assistant clown to get the pieces of armour. And boy does it make the final boss much more tolerable (If not great because you're forced to block every bullet so you can get awkwardly stunlocked).
