Ancient memories, why do we remember them?

Today it struck me that there are entire scenes from The Young Ones that I can confidently quote verbatim that I'm pretty sure it's been more than thirty years since I've seen, that I didn't go out of my way to memorize, didn't intentionally watch repeatedly or anything, like it wasn't a super favorite show, and I can't think of anything else from that long ago that I remember that precisely, barring maybe some songs.

Why do I remember that the letter you should write to a bank manager says "Darling Fascist bully-boy, give me some more money you bastard, may the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your woman, Neil"? (I also remember probably *mostly* word for word the entire scene during the construction of that letter.)

Why do I remember that "crop rotation in the 14th century was considerably more widespread after John Lloyd invented the patent crop rotator"?

Perhaps in part because both of those scenes were internally repetitive?

Anyone else got fun ancient memories that are weirdly clear for totally unimportant stuff?

Sometimes you can really feel the compartmentalization of memories. For me, words are clustered by approximate length and first letter, so I too would absolutely mix up Janelle and Janice.
