I just started watching ahsoka and I have no idea who any of these characters are, apparently it’s a sequel to a cartoon series? Like, maybe they should’ve put some backstory in the first episode for people who didn’t watch a cartoon 10 years ago?

I've been assured by The Nerds That Be that you don't need to watch 5 seasons of Rebels and 7 Seasons of The Clone Wars to understand and appreciate Ahsoka. I do not agree, but that's what they say. I think yes, it is very much a continuation of the animated shows Rebels, and Clone Wars. Ahsoka is a main character in Clone Wars, a guest character in Rebels. Sabine, Hera, Ezra, are all main characters in Rebels.

My friends assumed Han Solo must be really old in the original Star Wars because of who turns up in the end, as obviously he died in Episode One so this must all take place before that
