It's been dead for like four years already, glad we're finally getting around to bury it. It's been hella decomposed and stinking up the place.

I thought it had already been buried but apparently it hadn't. Oh well for good I guess. e: I guess that means the Keighleyverse reigns supreme. Fanatic fucked around with this message at 09:41 on Dec 13, 2023 |

Nuebot posted:I thought E3 died like a decade ago Nah, like three years ago, effectively. An actual E3 hasn't been held since 2019. It was already on the outs then but it still existed. Now there's simply no point and it dies, unheralded, on a chilly Tuesday afternoon in December. Rip. Rarity posted:To respectfully commemorate this gaming institution let's post our favourite E3 moments They're goofy and they were a marker of the beginning of a decade of decline for the group/company, but I'll always have a weird affection/nostalgia for then-newborn Square Enix's 2005 E3 technical demos.

E3 peaked at the below video, and they (E3) should have all just agreed right then and there to shake hands and go their separate ways, knowing they had achieved perfection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdDYoCU2kv0

I'm a grumpy old (he says, still posting on a forum in 2023) but E3 definitely mirrors a lot of how I view the trajectory of the industry. Very wondrous in the 90's, a peak of more accessible online access and hype generation in the late 00's and early 10's, before the whole thing around it tapered off towards a more functional (stale?) approach by everyone. Now we've just got Wrap It Up Keighley with his celebrity friends and "please be excited for our presentation upload" E3 as it was doesn't make a lick of sense anymore but we've lost a bunch of its intangible qualities that we'll never get back
