I'll take your word for it that the guy in the CGT can drive, but he's not really displaying that in the video. That's really the only problem I have with it. It sounds like he's revving really erratically, and when he's actually accelerating it looks really squirrelly. I wouldn't want to be on the same street as someone displaying their driving ability like that. If he had done a few smooth, controlled burnouts or slight drifts around the corners instead, I think it would have been a lot cooler. The thing in front of the restaurant is one of those things that looks hilarious on video, but I think it would wear thin (to the other patrons) after the first rev or two. I would still do much the same thing in a CGT, rest assured.

Yeah, although "who wants some Wang?" was taken so I chose the lame path of slightly changing the saying. Also, that particular M3 apparently has lost a lot of power over the years, running only around 165 horsepower (as they said at the end of the vid) so I assume it has something to do with the sound being a little off.

Anyone know of any other good E30 M3 videos? There's a fantastic black specimen at the auto repair shop on the end of my block, I've talked to the owner for a few minutes a week ago, but since the car is still there I'm thinking I may burn a DVD with some E30 videos and ask the shop's owner to let me leave it anonymously on the dashboard. I was kind of surprised though, the M3's owner was a walking MySpace profile, geared up in accessories, in his early 20s, didn't sound too bright either, but maybe I'm just being cynical. I guess he was "too punk" for an STI, yet too fast for being yet another indie charicature in an old Volvo wagon. Also are there other people on AI that pay more attention to 80s Alfas or Saabs or other quirky interesting cars being driven by most likely interesting people, rather than midlife crisis automatic 911s or other obnoxiously obvious "look at me, I'm in an expensive red car" guys? That CGT video was just boring and awkward, just like the celebrity circlejerk drunken road rallies and other tasteless poo poo I've seen online. Really, if I had the money I'd rather be driving something unreliable, impractical, and totally ridiculous like the bizarre, FWD V4 Saab Sonnet being sold for $4,000 on Craigslist in Illinois last month. That sounds infinitely better than an overweight chrome and plastic penis compensation mobile that's too fast not to get you a shitload of speeding tickets. Late Edit: I'm also a pompous rear end. 3363 fucked around with this message at 21:37 on Jan 23, 2007 |
