I bought the 16-channel version last year. It's a very nice mixer, feels solidly built, nowhere near as noisy as my old Behringer, and the effects are pretty good. The firewire connection really needs its own card, though - I experienced a lot of dropouts & latency with the motherboard's FW port. This was probably due to my older MB than a fault with the mixer itself.

I was also looking at a Mackie FW mixer in the same price range, but I'd heard less-than-glowing reviews of their current stuff, and was happy with my old Alesis MultiMix8 USB.

I decided against the LTD EC-1000VB since it was taking far too long to arrive and also it wouldnt do much more for me than my Hamer Standard could. I ended up choosing an Ibanez RG1570 in Mirage Blue. I LOVE IT. one thing though I should probably start considering what pickups to buy for it though since the stock ones arent that great. whats a good bridge pickup for heavier stuff?

Well the bridge is kinda weak on mine but I always thought that's because I hosed it up when I installed it.

Lakland 55-01. I put in an order for it, can't wait to play it.

I got to play my friends, who has it, and fell in love with it instantly. Can anyone reassure me that my purchase was right?

Yeah, I play everything from death metal to classic/prog rock to funk, and the Lakland seems like it can handle it all. Hopefully it'll handle the metal side well.

Finally got my new pickup, volume and tone pots and compensated bridge installed. Still have a grounding issue I am trying to nail down. I am saving up for a better adjustable bridge and some TonePros locking posts, but this one works for now, and it was dirt cheap.

Obviously the megatar is. Those crazy percussion instruments that you never see outside of an elementary school music room have limited utility, but goddamn are they fun. I remember this single contrabass xylophone bar I saw at TMEA last year that was like two feet long and sounded a pitch lower than my bass can probably go, it was loving awesome.

The Seymour Duncan JB is a good bridge pickup if you wanna rock out but still remain versatile.

The EMG 81 is for melting faces with the power of metal.

Bought it at Sam Ash as a return at great discount. Definitely worth the money and more. You're lucky - it's pretty sweet for a first guitar. I certainly wish my Peavey Predator had been one :(

I put a Squier Stratocaster neck on it, random humbucker in the neck, and stripped the paint. Within the next few weeks it's turning Candy Apple Red with white-black-white binding :swoon:

My bands drummer is one of those. We downloaded a Roland 808 kit sample set and away we went. I've seen people use them just as a sample set to trigger live, and then there's all the MIDI sequencing to be done with them. I think you should go for it.

Just ordered the the last of a very limited run of this:

(from the Reeves website)
The Reeves Custom Lead is a 60 watt take on the vaunted Marshall(TM) Super Lead, circa 1968, but with a few upgrades. As many a player will attest to the wonderful attributes of the Super Lead, the biggest issue was and still is, that in order to get "the tone" one has to open up the amplifier. Of course getting the Super Lead in the "sweet spot" means a very high dose of volume that might not be acceptable to home or even live venue use. We here at Reeves Amplification thought it would be a natural to mate the Super Lead circuit with Power Scaling licensed from London Power to allow the wattage of the amplifier to be dialed down to whatever level you need-anywhere between the maximum 60W down to less than 0.01W output. So now the amplifier's power tubes can be pushed into "break-up" at any volume.

* Hardwired turret board construction all tube circuit
* CNC laser cut 16 gauge steel chassis
* 60 watts via 2 x EL34 output tubes (Groove Tubes GT-EL34M Reproduction of a classic Mullard EL-34 XF2 Dual Getter tube)
* 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes
* Premium, ultra fast recovery diodes (FREDs) 11amp-1000v (More musical than standard solid state diodes- better mids, tighter lows and sweeter top end )
* Output Transformer wound to original specifications
* Normal Volume, Bright Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence, Drive and Power Scale controls
* Switchable 4,8,16 ohm impedance Selector
* 100v, 120v, 230v, 50/60Hz Voltage Selector
* Split cathode on V1 .68uf/2k7 and 330uf/820
* 100uf power supply filtering
* 32uf preamp supply filtering
* 33k/500pf tone stack combo
* .022uf output coupling capacitors
* 220k bias splitter resistors

As with all Reeves amplifiers, this amp is entirely hand assembled and wired using only the finest quality components-carbon composition resistors, STK and TAD "Dijon" coupling caps assembled on a Garolite turret board utilizing "Mil-Spec" wiring techniques.

lol what
Sounds pretty neat, but is it just a Super Lead with a built-in attenuator? Not to simplify what is probably an incredible amp.

It's not attenuation. It is a voltage regulator built in to the power amp section that allows you to cut down the voltage and thus the output power, a la EVH with the variac.

Reeves posted:

POWER SCALING

Power Scaling is a proprietary technology London Power developed to allow the maximum power of an amplifier to be dialed down to whatever level you need. Most Tube amplifiers have a "sweet spot", this occurs when the amplifier's power tubes are pushed into what is known as "clipping", "break-up", or "saturation". The tone and harmonics being produced by the amplifier in this state is why the majority of guitar players prefer vacuum tubes. Unfortunately, in order to get an amplifier into the "sweet spot" the associated louder volume can be very undesirable. Power scaling allows the user to keep the "sweet spot" at any volume!

Unlike power attenuators that are placed between the amplifier and the speakers - causing the amplifier to "cook itself" and seriously shorten tube life. Power Scaling allows the power output stage to be variable from full volume all the way down to bedroom levels while still achieving power tube "break up". Other advantages of Power Scaling are longer tube life at any setting less than maximum. When the Power Scale control in the minimum position the amplifier is now in standby thus eliminating the need for a standy switch.

The tones are awesome, I can't wait. I have a 76 Marshall Lead II, but even at only 50 watts, I really can't push it enough to get the sound I want out of it. I should be able to sell it at a pretty good price and make up most of the cost of the Reeves. Then maybe I can buy some Fane speakers for my cab...
