I'm enjoying it a bit. It's sufficiently entertaining that I continue to read it. I hope the plot gets on track a bit more, right now I don't feel much connection to any character in any way, but I'm still giving it a chance.

There's also a few clever subtleties that seem to be intentional. For one thing, the parts of the Real World that we've seen has a very different coloring style from the fantasy world. But the thing that truly intruiges me: The Arkenhammer is 3d rendered.

No, seriously. Look at it. (Even in the background.) It's not like it would be complicated to draw - the guy probably spends more effort posing and 3d-rendering it than he would to just draw the fucker. And nothing else has ever been 3d-rendered. What does it mean? I have no idea, but I suspect it will have plot significance.

For reference all the arkentools are 3d rendered. The arken pliers are seen being wielded by Ansom.

Probably symbolizes their otherworldliness as they are supposedly the tools used to build the world.

He's still a Lawful Good paladin and feels (perhaps rightfully so) that the OotS conspired with Shojo to circumvent the rules. I think it's understandable for him to think that, although he needs their help, they are still lawbreakers and deserve to be dealt with as such.

Detailing a scheme for circumventing the law in front of a Lawful character will almost always get that kind of reaction. I've actually been guilty of that in a campaign once - we got together in a bar to plot out a mansion heist but neglected to notice the local sheriff sitting the next table over. Whoops.

Yeah, it's somewhat of a dick move, but at this point he's charged with seeing to the safety of his populace and all he's got are a bunch of loose-cannon heroes where literally the only lever on them is their goodwill and Belkar. So yeah, there's a certain amount of ball-crushing going on.

I saw his reaction as a deliberate contrast to the earlier wizard who teleported the OotS around, only to be ignored and condescended to. In this, Hinjo is saying, "Hey, I matter."

Dammit I even looked for the other arkentools and couldn't find them. What page is that on?

One note: the Titans aren't 3d. So the whole otherworldliness thing doesn't apply to them, apparently.

I came here to laugh at you.
On Erfworld: It seems to me he was aiming for subtext that would be present but not intrusive on the story. But he went too heavy and now it's creepy & crappy. To be fair, subtlety is a tricky thing and he only screwed up a bit, but a little goes a long way.

That said, it also totally sucks for a different reason, that being that we have no clue what's going on or why it matters.

Ain't give a damn
I liked the way he set up the double strip today, side by side. I know it's silly but the positioning of it really does make it feel quite epic. I can't imagine how bad rear end this battle is going to be.

My preditions:
Azure City is going to be barraged constantly. Cannons will take out the prison cells and release the Linear Guild. Miko will be trapped, wounded, and Nale will have Thogg pick her up and take her with them - she owes her life to them now and they're against the OOTS. She won't necessarily become a blackguard right away, but Sabine will corrupt her to their side.

Roy and Co. will go after Xykon. They'll find him, and he'll unleash the beast in the shadows (we still won't see what it looks like) but the beast will gently caress up whatever his big bad rear end move is and end up destroying half of Azure City with the move. Xykon will take over the tower and the Snarl. Roy will get Hinjo out of there and take whatever refugees he can into the mountains to try to recover. But I agree with an earlier post that Xykon will discover that the snarl isn't ready to be freed yet because not enough gates have been destroyed.

Of course, I could be totally wrong.

I'm guessing that the rift was just hanging up in the air there (remember, it's too tiny to see unless you're really close) and they were in the process of putting a gate over it at that point in the flashback.
