The gearbox is a bit weird on the RS4. It's good, don't get me wrong, but the redline from first gear comes almost immediately. Plus if it hits the redline, it sticks for a second before slotting in. When you launch from a standing start, you have to be ready to switch up a gear almost the second the wheels start turning. And thats just on a standard. It must be much worse on a car of that spec

Last I checked, only uneducated drivers find an advantage to holding the rpm's high while shifting only to let them fall back down once the clutch is engaged.
