It's a very high regarded overdrive pedal. It costs around $100 bucks but you have to wait a year. I skipped ahead of the line by buying one from a friend

 Korg Pandora PX4D. I was looking for something I could use to practice both bass and guitar quietly (I work days, my brother works nights). I'd been researching amp modelling earlier today, and I'd read some really good reviews about this and all its' features (amp modelling, FX, tuner, click track, and so on), so I took the plunge this evening and purchased it. Once it gets here, I hope to spend a lot of good times tinkering around with it.

It does the same thing that the modern Gibson Attenuators/THD Hot Plates, but since it's vintage and nobody knows about them anymore, they're something like 1/3rd the price AND, unlike the modern attenuators which have a set impedance level, the Power Soak has a selectable impedance level. They were designed by the lead guitarist from Boston... an MIT masters graduate. They go anywhere from $100-$200 on eBay, but you can find them on mom-n-pop guitar shop websites for under $100. I plan on buying one this week.

The reason this is good is that your 4-year-old won't be able to twist the chickenhead knob around on your MASS so that it looks like it's set at the correct 8 ohms, when it in fact is set at 2 ohms....thereby causing you to COMPLETELY loving DESTROY YOUR BELOVED SUPER loving EXPENSIVE KENDRICK AMP while running it wide open during a session....

The faders (not motorized) and encoders feel nice, and the keys are decent. They're mini, which may be a problem for some, but I have tiny rear end hands so it doesn't bother me. I've also got a Yamaha keyboard with amazing feeling fully weighted keys, so I can use that when I really need something that feels like a piano. The pads are a bit inconvenient if I'm trying to change poo poo around when I'm playing a bass part, but otherwise they're in the right spot. It's usually a lot easier to be playing with my right hand and changing things with my left, since I'm right handed. I'd definitely say it's worth the extra $100 over the Axoim 25s and Photon 25s I looked at. The LCDs and lights really put it over the top, plus the extra octave of keys. If I could have justified paying another additional $100 I would have gotten the 49 key version of the microKontrol, since it has full sized keys and four octaves instead of three. Hell yeah I got a cab to go with my Marshall JTM-45. I can't wait to get these things in the same room. I will hurt people. The best part - IT'S RED! Who cares what speakers or the manufacturer. IT IS RED! Unfortunately, this signals the end of my GAS for 2007 I believe. The amp head, the cab, the hollowbody from earlier this year, the new DAW. I'd say I've spent my full on music poo poo for awhile. If only I could have reeled in a wireless as well, I think it would all be perfect. Oh well. Now I've got to work out how to use the drat thing  Then a nice chap from a store in Melbourne gave me a call yesterday to tell me that hey, the new Moogerfooger FreqBox you canceled because it was taking far too long to arrive in the country? Yeah, we received our shipment today and are posting them out. You've almost had the longest order so I'll knock the price down a bit. Still want one?  The dude couriered it via interstate express, for free, and it arrived in under 24 hours. Serial # 170. My credit card hates me, but I'm in fat, noisy, analogue heaven. And now the gratuitous gear porn money shot.  Roll call in semi left-to-right order: EHX Micro Synth, EHX HOG and ZVex Fuzz Factory. Moogerfooger Ring Mod, Lowpass Filter and MuRF against the wall. Moog control processor, Signal Arts sequencer, Technosaurus Microcon and Moog Freqbox. Roland TR-606 with a stuck run button sitting on a Tech21 Trademark 30 down the back. Boss RC-50 loopstation and cheap Behringer 8-in mixer on the lower shelf. HOG footswitch and some control pedals on the floor. Gibson Gem series Studio and Roland SH-101 chillin' like villains. White seat, pine bench and little metal rack all from IKEA  The majority of it makes up a crazy guitar controlled synth. The Moogerfooger's all patch together like a modular synth with the Hog, micro-synth and ZVex fuzz box standing in as oscillators - at least until now, as the Freqbox is a real synth oscillator, which can sync to the guitar's audio signal. The SH-101, aside from being a synth itself, can use it's control voltage outputs to operate the moogerfoogers without the guitar's audio signal. The addition of the Freqbox's oscillator will make the whole Moogerfooger set a complete analogue modular synth by itself The Microcon is yet another analogue synth which I'll by running from the sequencer.I've only two things left of my shopping list: a Sherman Filterbank and a midi instrument. I don't know what midi instrument yet, but I'm researching as many alternative and weird midi instruments as I can find. I'd kill for a Ztar, but sweet jesus they're expensive.
