It needs some touching up but it's really cool to own a guitar built in my own country.
Apparently it belonged to some Tore Persson as you can see from the adress in the box, all attempts of contacting him has been fruitless though; it has probably been lying around in the box for 15-20 years or so. At least it will be used now!

Haha. I've tried a guitar like that before. Plays like a washboard and sounds like a banjo guitar hybrid but drat does it sound unique. The good kind of unique as well. The fretboard feels like I'm touching porcelian.

Actually we'd guess that its acrylic. :) The back side of the guitar looks like some sort of fake mother of pearl.
The thing with this guitar is because every part of the guitar is, well, ugly, it sort of transcends into a new form of cool. We'll pick up a new tuning head for it today, and a new set of strings. It will be very interesting to hear how it sounds, especially after the "banjo guitar hybrid" comment.

No, just decoration. The pickups & controls are all mounted to the larger square panel, which is mounted in the body cavity.

Let's talk about where you're going.
This is not actually what mine will look like, but you get the general idea. I have a big-rear end 19 inch rack that I used to use before I went completely VST, so I am going to use it to house my custom modular analog. I have always wanted one, and now my job allows me the disposable income to put one together.

Synthesizers.com has awesome prices on modules, so you can pretty much go crazy and build the monster modular you always wanted.

Line6 offers no explanation for the "tweak" and "tweez" knobs. I have a Line6 Modulation Modeler (chorus, phaser, flange, rotary etc) that has those knobs and you really just have to play around with each because they both change the sound significantly. The Tweez knob sorta makes the sound a little nasal-ish.

mono posted:

The Tweak & Tweez knobs vary by each pedal - on the DL4 (depending on which patch you're playing with), the "Analog w/ Mod" patch (i.e. Memory Man) uses them for the modulation control; on the plain "Digital Delay" patch they're a bass/treble control.

It sounds great. I am so happy with it and I am bringing it to an audition for a band that is signed to a local Portland label so hopefully the gear will help my chances. I read somewhere that its about 70% how you look 30% how you sound so I am thinking the new Ampeg will get me at least 5-10% more looks :).

It would work well for portability. This thing is lighter than my old Peavey 112 but still much bigger. Its amazing. And with the 5 style options and my active/passive Fender Jag, I am getting a plethora of different tones. Killer amp for the money.

Awesome! Lucky you. I just checked one out today and I was wondering if I should buy one of these or a drum machine for Cubase and Sonar as I have EZ Drummer and am considering purchasing DFH Superior to record metal songs with. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to MIDI, trigger pads and drum machines so could someone please chime in?

Drum machines are usually geared more towards techno and electronica and sound pretty generic. If you want to record metal, getting pads is a great way to go. It is relatively easy to become co-ordinated on them if you have some good drum beats in mind. Also, I use EZ Drummer for metal songs using their 'Drumkit from Hell' expansion. It sounds really nice, I would check it out on their site to see if it is something you might want to consider.
From what I have seen of DFH Superior, it isn't as good as EZ Drummer. Of course, I just played around with the demo that came with the padKONTROL, so I'm not entirely sure.

We thought we'd base our civilization upon yours, 'cause you're the smartest animals on earth, now ain't you?
I've been working with this guitar builder Dennis Fano for almost a year and a half now, trying to get a custom guitar made. He supposedly creates awesome-sounding guitars, and has built 7 for Ed from the Barenaked Ladies, as well as a few for the members of my favorite band, XTC. Finally I gave up because a year and a half after making a 50% down payment ($2600), he hadn't started yet. But to remedy things, he offered to make me one of his regular models for a much lower price. This is the model I chose:

And this is my actual guitar in progress:

The line is called "Artifacts," and he "ages" them with a little rust and sandpaper in strategic places to make them look 30 years old or whatever. I think it's a really cool effect.

It was supposed to be done June 15th, though. :( He says he's just waiting on a decal for the headstock to arrive in the mail, so... I'm getting antsy.

Love this pedal. Love it's ugliness. Of course all the delay patches are very cool - I especially love the auto volume, it's great with ebow - but the sampler is amazing. A lot of times I have to play by myself for background music at church (communion and stuff) and it's great to play a few chords then solo over them.

Oh, and btw...

On the left is an 86 (i think) ibanez roadstar that has "Jimmy Blue" etched on the back... apparently it's name is jimmy blue. I'm down. The one on the right start life out as a squier but was reworked a bunch (new nut, bridge, pickguard, fret wires sanded down, neck straightened up) by a guy named scott wilburn. He put his logo on it and named it "Simoncaster" for my friend's son, simon, who is an awesome six year old. He used to, when he was done with guitars, reapply the Fender logo, but Fender called him up and told him to knock it the heck off.

Born in the LOLbarn.
About the EZDrummer vs DKFH Superior:

DKFH is much, much more robust that EZDrummer. EZDrummer is a small portion of the samples that come with DKFH. Also, the interface is different, and easier to use. So bottomline:

If you want something easy to use that will sound ok and is easy to get started with, get EZDrummer. If you want something that has incredibly tweakability and an incredible array of sounds, go with DKFH.

Also, if the oversimplification of EZDrummer is off putting to you, and you DKFH is too hard to setup, try looking into BFD. It sounds good and is pretty easy to figure out (compared to DKFH.)
