STOOOOOOOOOKED ok, first of all, I HAVE a digital camera. Sort of. Well, it's a PC peripheral camera whose software registered a warning with Windows XP, which told me that installation of said software would probably destroy my computer, and I don't want to reload over 10 days of music onto iTunes and a good half that on porn, so you get camera phone pics: Squier Standard Series Stratocaster, in Candy Apple Red (supposedly - it looks very metallic to me, and darker than most CARs). This brings my current setup to: Squier Standard Strat Squier Custom Tele Laney 50R head broken television PC speakers plugged into the headphone jack (apartments ) $100 in Danelectro pedals (so like, eighty pedals total) someone sell me a 2x12 so I don't have to buy a new one for $350.

I just bought a Boss ME-50 off eBay with a home-made patch changing pedal for £120. BAAAAHGIN. Next, I'm getting my savings out and getting either a Hagstrom HL550, 60s Melody Maker or an Epiphone Supernova. Analdeath fucked around with this message at 20:20 on Aug 17, 2007 |

This is basically what I have right now. Got the guitar a few weeks ago It's a Schecter C1+ into a Roland Cube 30x. Nothing really fancy, but it's a very good intermediate setup. The only problems I have with the guitar is the pickups are pretty mediocre (Duncan Designed) and the there is slight fret buzz when the action has been set to my ideal playing level. Otherwise I like it a lot. I just wish I had the motivation to actually play it on a consistent basis.

Standard Strat off ebay with American pickups . All I need to do now is wait for my amp to come on tuesday . Oh, and I'm thinking of getting a turtle-shell pick-guard, just so it looks different, they are hard to find though.

This baby. Robert Keeley Javaboost. A friend of mine owns one. It sounds really nice on bass and is great for cutting through the mix but keeping the lower end. Its just the sound I'm looking for in the classic prog group/project I'm working on.

Finally got around to start playing bass. So far this thing is drat fun, fits my hand a lot better, and is just in general a lot more interesting to play along to songs with. I think I might pick up a Brice 5 string in the near future if I get truly good enough.

I've wanted a Parker for years now but the same thing applied - I just didn't have $1500 to drop on a guitar. Guitar Center had this used for $999, and I got it for $800. I'll see if I can record some clips later on (i wish i had a stereo cable so I can split the magnetic/piezo outputs properly).

Uncle Caveman posted:There's also Guitar Parts Resource, which has a nice selection. You should get an anodized guard; all the best-dressed sunbursts are wearing gold this season. Are those just anodized aluminum? I work in an aluminum plant and have access to sheets of scrap aluminum and any number of coloured anodizing options, so I've been thinking of taking in my Squier '51 and Tele pickguards into the factory and asking some of the machinists if they could cut me some aluminum guards to have anodized to gold or black or green or whatever. With an aluminum guard, do I have to worry about grounding it to the rest of the metal parts of the guitar?

I'm actually looking to get my first bass, a Hofner violin. Musician's Friend won't ship to Canada so does anyone know of any websites that will? Or any stores that would carry Hofner's? Long and Mcquade doesn't carry them, I'm near Toronto too.

Elderly carries them and would ship up north, however it would cost you a pretty penny.

Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Went into Guitar Center to try out a couple fretless basses and lo and behold, the exact one I wanted to try was there...and USED and CHEAP. Just the way I like 'em. I set it up today and with some GHS light roundwounds and played for about and hour and a half. I'm really happy with it. I tried some flatwounds on it as well but they are not for me. I was able to acclimate myself to this bass fairly quickly since I naturally play close to the fret; my main bass is a 2007 Highway-1 Jazz.

Cigar box ukulele with resonator and hand-wound wire pickups, built to spec by "Bluesboy JAG." It sounds cool, especially through an amp, and it has great sustain so it takes slides and bends really well. The scale is also surprisingly accurate, especially considering the frets are made of toothpicks. bitey fucked around with this message at 02:10 on Aug 20, 2007 |

I had mixed feelings about them. They were so short; felt kind of cheap for an instrument that costs over a grand. Did get a nice, almost upright sound out of it though. I just couldn't justify paying that much for an instrument. Bear in mind, I don't own any guitars in the four digit category. Hell, the last guitar I bought was a crappy Ibanez bass off craigslist with a repaired crack at the neck joint for $70. Enough rambling, I expect you to go to the 12th Fret, buy the bass and return to this thread with pictures - stat!

I don't know much about Hofner basses, but I seem to find everything I've looked up on Musician's Friend on Music123.com. Their prices seem to be almost (if not) exactly the same in my experience. I've ordered a bass off of Music123 when I lived in Vancouver and they actually sent me a better model (Bartolinis instead of passive electronics) free of charge. Either a mistake or they ran out of the model I ordered. I don't care. Edit: So according to Wiki, Musician's Friend bought up Woodwind & Brasswind, and Music123 is WW&BW's sister company. So I guess they might actually have the same stock/inventory, but Music123 ships to Canada! CanuckBassist fucked around with this message at 04:48 on Aug 20, 2007 |

Check. Out. THIS. Motherfucker! Back-view (+ hosed up eyes on my part) Slap Double-Bass. I came up with a design concept and fed it to the painter at alocal shop who specialises in instrument-artwork (i.e. paintjobs etc.) After showing him about 3 square cm of my idea, in his loving genius he made the design in whole. And I must say I like it. Just got back from playing it for a show my school puts on to show everyone what the music-students are doing for their final exams. Good fun it was.

A limited edition Ampeg BA-112 bass amp. Supposedly, Ampeg only produced these ones with the diamond toltex covering to give to their dealers as a gift or something. I managed to snag one from Craiglist in perfect condition for a great price. I'm just happy to finally have a bass amp to play my 2 basses through - for the longest time I've just been playing through my PA or direct into my computer.
