The paper mill near where I live does the same thing with semi trailers loaded with wood chips. I'd imagine a semi trailer can hold more crap than a dump truck.

Those hold a hell of a bigger payload than the typical dump truck, and can be used for different kinds of loads as well. That's my guess, anyways. Seems like a good idea when you really think about it.

Most places that deal in large amounts of wood chips like paper mills and mulch yards have these. I was on one in just an f250 with a goose neck trailer once. It was pretty sweet.

Dumb fact:

Dumptrucks with a trailer hold a higher total weight than a loaded semi (53' or 28' train).

I know this isn't really what you're saying.

That's just the lovely sound effects the show dubbed in. I also don't think the kid got caught - you'll notice the "breakdown" clip is the same footage as when the kid leaned on the brakes earlier, just slowed down. I think that fat, bald headed pig got outdriven by a 15 year old, and it makes me smile.

If driving fast is so dangerous, why didn't the officer ram the bmw when it slammed on the brakes? I guess they didn't think he was a big enough danger that he really needed to be stopped, they just wanted to have fun chasing him.

Here's a video of the Thrust SSC breaking the land speed record back in 1997. 760-ish mph, broke the sound barrier. The quality is pretty poor but the sound is amazing! Sounds like the world is about to end as he approaches 600-ish mph.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr0KdxhYgfY

Here's another of the Turbinator breaking the speed record for the fastest wheel-driven vehicle (The Thrust SSC was jet-propelled). 470mph. Quality is fantastic on this one and you really get a great sense of speed. The sound of the turbine spooling up is just badass. Make sure you turn it up really loud for full effect.

drat. Still, I suppose flying through the air in an M5 at a high rate of speed is a relatively good way to go.

I lack the skills to work it out, but given an 80ft starting height and a 200ft covered distance, how fast would that be given the weight of the car.

I don't know, I feel bad for the passengers. I've been in a car when the driver decides to be a douche and it's a loving helpless feeling. I doubt all the passengers were cool with what the driver was doing, they could have been scared but just didn't say anything. I feel no pity for the driver whatsoever.

That's disappointingly slow, especially for that car, and the distance that they had to build speed. Also, how would they have picked up forward momentum in the air? Once the car left terra firma, it was merely a projectile, so the only acceleration would have been downwards (with a small amount of deceleration due to drag).

Their overall velocity is the combination of the horizontal speed and vertical speed. Think of vector addition.
