Is it true that once upon a time we had old cars that weren't overpriced and inflated? Like, have people ever NOT tried to sell engineless/transmissionless cars for $2500? http://austin.craigslist.org/car/557862708.html I do love Lincolns, but boy oh boy I am not looking forward to paying anyone $2500 for something that doesn't run. e: Look, see, it's old, awesome, and it's the same price! Definitely not the same car, but a Turbo 'bird with an HO conversion is neat as hell. http://austin.craigslist.org/car/557241409.html Waffle House fucked around with this message at 20:09 on Jan 31, 2008 |

I came here to post an ad I saw yesterday for an '86 CRX that was listed at "$4,200 firm" because "that's how much I owe the finance company" but the ad has expired. So, here's another gem: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/555782449.html It's a 2005 Prius with 29k miles for the low, low price of $24,995! Edit: I guess that price isn't as insane as I initially had thought. I still find it absurd, since that's the MSRP of a heavily-optioned brand-new one. nanodroogie fucked around with this message at 21:31 on Jan 31, 2008 |

What the gently caress is this monstrosity Lamborghini Countach exotic kit car. - $9900 This is a rare opportunity to own this kit car. It has been in my garage for years. People always asking me to sell it, well finally here it is. Worth up to $40-50 grand but I don't have the time for it. This is a finished and completed car. Not some basket case. All for only $9900-firm. Has rear engine Chevy v6 with AC! Gull wing doors lift up like real thing electrically. High quality kit (long wheel base kit). Tubular welded frame, very light and fast. Looks just like the real thing. Titled as 1980 Pontiac.

I was looking on Ebay to see if there were more intact Fieros for sale or more hacked Fieros. (It's about 2 to 1 intact vs. Lambasted.) when I came upon this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-Factory-T-Top-GT-Fiero-Exotic-Kit-car-Project_W0QQitemZ170188747295QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170188747295 The guy wants 3800 bucks for about 90% of a Fiero that is sitting in pieces waiting for an unspecified "replica type exotic fiberglass body." (Looks like one of the "Ferrari" ones. Could be worse) edit: and on the subject of Fieros, this one is loving gorgeous: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Classic-Sports-Car-Coupe-w-17-Ferrari-wheels_W0QQitemZ260206771553QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260206771553 Not one of the desireable years, but you can't argue with the (apparent) condition. Every used car lot in Northern Arizona asks and will settle for not much less than prices like that (like the place asking 4 grand for a beat-up Festiva). I'm guessing there are enough complete loving retards around that they can count on them. I mean one 4000 dollar CRX is worth probably 3 or 4 2000 dollar ones to the dealer. I'm sure all of them can arrange for them to be financed at those prices. At least that idiot's car looks to be in pretty good shape.
