Want to make a correction; the Chrysler 2.2L head project was 24v not 32v (don't know where I got that from). Chrysler actually had a contest for universities to design a new head for the engine and I can't seem to find the old article on it, but one school developed a 24v head that despite not even having tuned the engine to take advantage of it or properly designed a cam (I remember them saying that they just made a new cam with the stock cam profile for testing purposes). If I remember correctly, engine produced ~260 hp, loads of torque and managed to rev much higher due to elimination of the original Chrysler head. What's more, they were really confident that if given the time and resources to properly tune and refine the design, they were capable of pushing much more power. I know for a fact that one of the original people involved with the project actually still has the rights to the design, but he's only wiling to sell it for more than its worth to anyone now. Getting back on track; Chrysler loved the design but turned it down for the cost or producing it; deciding that the old design was still sufficient. Unfortunately, a combination of this same bean counting mentality and internal politics* killed the 4.0L. * Daimler had complete control of Chrysler; it's no secret that the merger was actually a takeover. I actually have a book that completely follows the whole mess and mentions that for whatever reason, there was a big movement in Daimler to try and dismantle Jeep, that never saw fruition as Jeep was at the time the only part of the company (including Mercedes) that made any profit. The 4.0L was likely slashed as a last blow before Daimler sold their majority of Chrysler. The King of Swag fucked around with this message at 03:53 on Feb 20, 2008 |

Meet my soccer mom special! I get 13 mpg, but the amount I pay for the lease more than makes up for it. I'll absolutely lease another one if the price is right. I've been nothing but impressed with it.

I know you have to take that poo poo with a grain of salt but every time a mpg thread comes up in a jeep forum you always see people posting with 15 and above. I was considering a thread for this but since we're on the subject, my 06' wrangler decided to lose traction to some black ice on the Turnpike the other day, mere seconds after I though to myself 'right about now would be a good time for 4wd'. I slipped around for a while before I hit the curb and rebounded back to the other side of the road. The car was fine except I shaved about an inch of metal off the front and rear wheels, and the rear wheel is now a little bent and has a visible wobble. Its ok to drive but i definitely need to replace at least the rear wheel. What are my options? Ive been looking around online but I can't find anything that matches the wheel exactly. Should I just bring it back to the dealer and expect to pay more than I can afford?

My dad's anti-jeep. It's a loving blast to drive but is pretty much everything a jeep shouldn't be. If you guys remember, my dad traded in his mint condition E46 M3 for this. I was mad that he got rid of it until I drove the SRT8. And here's it doing what it shouldn't be doing. (It was faster than a Shelby GT Mustang on the track)

I had no problems taking Cobra's in the turns; seeing a 4800 lb SUV in the rear view mirror must have scared the crap out of the drivers and caused them to loose their concentration. I got rid of the SRT8 a few months ago to fund my Corvette track car build up but goddam I miss that Jeep.

So you could either just buy a new set of aftermarket wheels, or keep checking on CL, Jeep wheels seem to roll across CL in my area every day. You might even call some 4x4 shops in your area and see if they know anyone who has recently replaced their stock wheels.

Relatively abundant, because they were sold to backwoods VFDs when the Army got rid of them, and the fire departments are finally getting enough money to upgrade. Lots of them you see for sale nowadays have V8s swapped in. There was one in one of the Tremors movies, but I can't find a picture. It was yellow. With the broken diff, why didn't you just disconnect the rear axle and put it in 4x4 high and drive it with the front? I've seen several friend do that when their differential died

On longer trips I get up around 17-17.5 on the highway.
