Parachute Underwear posted:Went to a show last night and was surprised by a really awesome-sounding pop-punk band called Living with Lions. I can't access MySpace on this computer, but from the show, they really sounded like Lifetime and Set Your Goals. Kick-rear end band. They are indeed a very good band (can't wait until they make a UK appearance), I was gonna pick up their CD but the label putting it out has had some "difficulties" of late.

i have been on an obsessive run lately with The Ramones. I watched "End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones" a week ago, and since then it's been all Ramones all the time. Hearing their story again makes me want to start a band tomorrow.

We just finished our DEMO and played tonight with Barren, Cold shoulder, Pyramid Scheme and Boiling Over in the middle of nowhere Indiana. There is definitely something in the water there because those kids are nuts. Most fun I've had at a show in a good while.

I am seriously so loving pumped for the next three months. Seriously. May 30 2008 No Turning Back (Belgium), Wake Up Call, I Rise Jun 4 2008 Ceremony, Ambitions, Life Long Tragedy, Sabertooth Zombie, Watchfire Jun 20 2008 Verse, Have Heart, Paint It Black, Tides, Soul Control, Wasteland Jun 21 2008 Killing The Dream, Ruiner, The Carrier, Outrage, Boiling Point, Throwing Aces (holy poo poo) Jul 11 2008 Trash Talk, Cold World, Iron Age Aug 30 2008 Bracewar, Reign Supreme, Meltdown, Talk Is Cheap, The Effort, Harbour God drat. Dillinger you going to that verse/have heart show in providence? Then if I feel like being a huge gay I could see Emmure, Recon, Acacia Strain and On Broken Wings. But gently caress that.

I'm amped for Ceremony, Watchfire, Killing the Dream, Trash Talk, Cold World, Reign Supreme, and the Full Blown Chaos/Shai Hulud/Reign Supreme show in August. I'm going to that Emmure show for laughs because they loving suck. Acacia Strain isn't playing, Emmure would have no material left to cover after A.Strain played it all. I'm going to Verse/Have Heart only to see Soul Control and Tides and hang out, I'm honestly not into either of those bands and I never have been.

Holy gently caress the new Hulud kills. When I first heard the title track I thought it was just okay, but like all things Hulud does, it gets better and better with time. Totally recommended for fans of Zombie Apocalypse, Hulud's side-project. This new stuff is way faster than TWBIT and it's gooooood

Yeah, I liked the title track off the bat but thought the rest of the album was bleh, but now it's really grown on me. To Bear The Brunt Of Many Blades is a loving beast of a song. Also, Redeemer by Norma Jean is also growing on me. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Tragedy is playing at Che Cafe on Saturday, then 7 Generations is playing on Sunday. I really want to go to both shows, but driving from Orange County is expensive as gently caress right now. Thus, i have two questions: 1) Is anyone from Orange County interested in going to either of these shows and splitting gas? or 2) Is there anyone in San Diego who has a floor where i (potentially we if someone answers the above) could crash on saturday night? Ceremony, Sabertooth Zombie, Life Long Tragedy and a Michael Graves acoustic set in less than 20 hours. I'm so beyond pumped I can't even explain. What a ridiculous lineup. I can't wait. edit: also Kids Like Us and The Mongoloids on monday. Hopefully I'll be able to find a ride and have money.

I really dig The Lawrence Arms, particularly their last release "Oh! Calcutta!". Besides Propagandhi and early Strung Out and Against Me!, there aren't many punk bands I listen to, but The Lawrence Arms are really doing something new and amazing. Any love for the band, and is there any where else I can go after I am through with them?

The Larries are my favorite band ever. Look into The Falcon, which is Brendan's "super group" consisting of him and Neil and Danny from Alkaline Trio. Also check out The Broadways, which was Chris and Brendan's band before the Arms. I think you'll like them if you like Propagandhi, they were very political. As far as unrelated bands, try Hot Water Music, particularly No Division and A Flight and a Crash, None More Black, Situationist Comedy by Dillinger Four, ...We Are Still Alive by Latterman and Goddamnit and Maybe I'll Catch Fire by Alkaline Trio.

The Lawrence Arms are my favorite band too. I even took my name from one of their song titles. If you're into them, you should definitely check out Jawbreaker, if you haven't already. Edit: Also Sundowner. It's Chris' acoustic side project and it's pretty awesome.

VLV sucks as far as buying/selling goes now. DF is more active for that but the quality of music isn't as good.

When I find stuff on VLV, it's usually pretty cheap. From my experience, some people on DF want ebay prices for lots of records. But I still like DF better because their boards are split up, so I don't have to search through tons of stupid news and parody threads to find the people who're selling stuff.

For all of its shortcomings I still find VLV the most entertaining message board of the ones I go to. Dead Format is more mature and organized and somewhat boring. I don't do a whole lot of buying/trading on the boards but doing so on VLV has not burned me yet.
