My first bike, 1970 Honda CB350. The PO put these low as bars on it, I'm still deciding if I like them, the bad part is he hacked the wiring up. But other wise it's great, very forgiving under 6k, and goes like hell over that. I have the original bars and might put them back on, but for now it's great to be on two wheels!

1986 GS450L This is my first bike and I like it a lot. I practically stole it for $600 with only 5k on the dial. I feel like it was a good choice for a starter bike, very manageable for me and it's faster than my car at least. I hope to make my next bike an sv650 but then I wont get waves from the Harley guys like I do now :-\ Should I keep the Flames??? Not sure if its mine, per se, but after going on many a ride with my dad, I'm now daily driving one of these. It isn't.... ridiculously powerful, I guess, but its definitely fast enough to get me in trouble. Currently looking for a nice cheap sportbike to commute with, and hopefully get my inevitable first crash on. (Can't get a picture to turn out right now, will post later. This color, though.)

A 1983 GS550ES. It has a rough re-jet by me and a K&N air filter. It also has a hand wound stator (by me), and a GSXR regulator rectifer. It was purchased for $300 as "misc motorcycle parts." The bike was abandoned at a suzuki dealer because the owner wouldn't pay for the repairs after wrecking it. Skreemer stopped by the dealer and because he rides a 1983 GS550E, the owner offered him the bike. I'm exceedingly happy with it. It'll do a little more than 120mph, it accelerates fast enough, it hauls me and a passenger as far, and as fast as I like. The seat is a little.. rough on the derriere. My 1980 GS550's seat is much nicer. I'll post those pictures in a bit. 1983 RM250. It's got some aftermarket pipe, Boysen reeds, and some aftermarket front end plastic. It's got all the power and suspension of a modern bike.... but drum brakes and no powervalve. It's a mans bike. :-) I'm not man enough. It's for sale, I want something with disks and a powervalve. I"ll need to keep digging. But for shits and giggles. Here's a video... of my GS425. And for any noobs in the audience. 1993 suzuki across gsx250f, cost me 3000 AUD. the tank is actually a little helmet storage box with a light and the real fuel tank is under the seat. it has a great little inline 4 engine too this is my one: this isnt:

Still rocking my 2006 DRZ-400SM. It's got about 9k miles on it now and I love it more than the day I bought it. It still finds ways to teach me new things nearly once a month. Absolutely the funnest bike I've owned. My previous bikes were a 2003 Yamaha R6 and a 2002 Honda CBR 954RR. Here is my Kawasaki Police 1000 that has survived being a Denver Police bike, a funeral escort bike, and Metro Detroit collision with a Ford F-150. It has 39K miles on it and mechanically she's sound. She just needs some cosmetic work: After my father passed away, his 1977 CB750K worked its way through the family and ended up in my possession. It started out with badly rotted tires, terrible looking after market windshield, faded gauges, and weird looking sissy bar/luggage rack. New tires, new gauges, and ripping off the lousy rack has improved it looks. Of course it still needs a few things (including a good wash and wax). I have new side covers but I have to find a paint shop that will paint them for me. I also need to clean the carbs, because the drat thing will idle without any choke but will die when you give it any gas.

I just picked this up a couple weeks ago, I have about a thousand miles on it (got it with just 1,700) I'm liking it more and more the more I ride it. It's a bone stock 2005 636. Well, I did do the jumper mod but that's it.

My ZX-10, bought it brand new in aug 06 , i now have about 14000km on the clock, she's treated me very well so far. The only changes i made to it are a DB windshield and frame sliders. i might get another exhaust eventualy if i find a deal but it doesnt need any more power.

This was my first bike (barring what I learned on in the course.) Lots of fun, but not so good on the roads out of town. Oh my! Super Sherpa "Spiderbike" has evolved into KLR650 "Killer"! This one IS good on the roads out of town. It's also my three-season commuter (I stop when the ice returns.) I don't treat her to as much offroad as she deserves.

Lost a bunch of old images, but my first bike was a 80 Yamaha XJ750 Seca After that I bought a titless Yamaha FZ600 from a guy I met randomly and planned to use it as a weak track bike, the restore never went well and aside from numerous attempts to bump start it it never got ridden much. Then I got this: 2000 Triumph Sprint RS I had it for a little while then a teenager in her mom's volvo did this: After I recovered from that I bought this: 2003 BMW R1150R While I still love my 1150 to death I spent too much time on advrider so I ended up getting this as well: 2003 BMW F650 GS Dakar TT39

Here's my new-to-me starter bike. It's a 1996 Yamaha Virago 750 with about 62,000 miles on it. I shopped around for nearly 3 months before I finally settled on this bike to start off on. Picked it up for 1,500 bucks from a woman in the area who owned two and wanted to get rid of one. I just took the MSF class over the weekend so I'm looking forward to taking her out for some serious riding later on this week. I do have a question for you guys though, I would really appreciate some help. The exhaust head on the bike is REALLY corroded and rusted. It's drat near worn all the way through. In fact, when I rode the bike around the block a couple times yesterday there was a bit of smoke coming out from the head after I parked her. It's nearing the end of the line obviously. Now, I tried looking on ebay and did a bunch of google searches for a place that sells that part but I'm having zero luck. Can anybody direct me to a resource or a shop that has the part available? Thanks a lot!

As far as daily driving, its not too shabby. Has plenty of grunt down low for around town driving, but the bike still does get pretty hot pretty quick. Comfort... well, I did make it to TN in one shot, and I usually do some long (~5 hour) riding days, but my best suggestion is to see if you can get to sit on one at a dealer or even take a test drive (assuming this wont be your first bike). Everyone judges comfort differently. PM me if you have any more questions

First up, my girls. My first bike, which I'm still working on. 1977 Suzuki GS400X In fact, her current state minus the engine, front fender, and wiring bits. Plans for her are to just restore her. Maybe get different bars and put some nice shocks on, but that's about it. My second girl I bought. 1973 Yamaha LT2 On her way home. And in a garage where SOMEONE keeps stealing her. Not many plans for her. A tuned pipe might be nice. Lastly, my boy. I feel for what shape it's in, I ripped off the seller. 1980 Suzuki GS550E I bought him with some charging issues. Very typical problem, and solved by a new, bigger regulator / rectifier put in this weekend. First thing will be to get rid of that luggage rack / sissy bar. Second thing before it truly goes anywhere is to replace the tires. Other mods will be superbike bars, a dual front disc brake, eventually shocks, and maybe some day a 650 top end.

I know they're kind of a staple in the sports bike world. I was also looking at the Ninja 650r, r6, and SV650 I think I'm willing to spend around $5,000 tops, including riding equipment. So about $4,000 on the bike?

The remains of my great grandfathers' bike. And, the stuck engine that I may attempt to break loose, doubtful though. Last but not least, the donor bike. Yes, I know. The donor bike is by far in better shape than the engine-less one. However, the donor bike doesn't have a title and did not have the significant appeal of being my late great grandfathers' machine (who I never met, as he died 6 months before I was born). Obviously, this bike has a lot of emotion tied to it for a few people in the family, so a full restoration will be in order, with a few tweaks. I just picked these up, if anyone remembers me mentioning them in the MMM. Expect a rather lengthy project thread when I eventually do finish it, but for now I'm just focusing on getting the one running out of the two. Also, I was off on the age in the MMM. The one I'm fixing is a '72 CL350 (or at least made 1/72), the donor bike is a '69. I must say though, it felt amazing sitting on his bike, running or not.

I graduated to this GS500 after tooting around on a DR200 dual sport. Once I was ready for a real bike I nabbed this 02 SV-650S off craigslist. My highschool self decided some blingin flushmount blinkers and a ghetto fender eliminator were just what it needed. Now that I realize I'll be keeping this bike for years to come I regret those decisions.

If $4k is your budget for a bike, go with the SV and don't look back. You should be able to find an 06 or maybe an 07 for that much. I had an 06 SV that I put 13k on in under a year. Got kinda bored of it after that much time and went with the 750... and I actually miss the SV. Such a fun bike! My first bike: 2007 Ninja 250. I've put almost 10k on it and still love it. Unfortunately, I crashed it a few months ago, but it's running again sans fairing and will be ready for my first track day on the 19th. The new bike: 2008 Triumph Daytona 675. I took this pic in Santa Barbara on a trip from Sacramento to LA. Bought it in March and have 4k on it so far. It's a really fantastic bike, handles well, and sounds even better.

Here's my current ride. 2008 Suzuki DL650. Loving the hell out of this thing. Great in town, tons of fun in the twisties and lets me explore dirt roads without a problem. I'm looking for a CB 450 (or higher) to restore and will be picking up a Suzuki DR-Z400 this fall to satisfy my offroad desires once again. This was my last bike. 1997 BMW F650 with 31K miles on it. Really fun bike and awesome reliability. I was going to keep it alongside the Suzuki but decided to sell it and get a more dirt orientated bike for the stable instead.
