I think this last strip is a pretty clear sign that the party re-unification process is about to accelerate a bit. I think the Oracle did all of that for a reason other than to gently caress with Belkar. Or not. But I DO believe he is going to help get everybody back together.

Yes yes yes YES! I knew it! Man this comic would've really sucked without that witty smack-talking oracle. I'd have to think that the memory enchantment wouldn't affect Roy. As a ghost he exists partially on the ethereal plane... if fireballs and such can't affect him, neither should the memory thing.

Hmmmm... now that I think about it, how did those lizard people go in and out, presumably without triggering the memory charm? Does it only kick in when you cross the line? Sounds like quite a hole in the Oracle's defenses.

The oracle might be able to allow certain people to retain all memories at his choosing. Such as, say, friendly wizards and clerics who will raise him at agreed upon times. Plus, I bet Xykon could come and go as he pleases, seeing as undead are immune to mind affecting spells.

I don't think it's really a hole in the defenses, since in order to teleport, you have to be familiar with the destination or risk going somewhere else. Though I'm wondering how they familiarized themselves with the destination to begin with... maybe went in, teleported out.

Or maybe they're carrying an appointment book and, had the Oracle needed to apprise them of any changes, they could have just written them down. You guys make this way too complicated.

But if it was that simple, what's keeping someone from writing things down on a second trip after finding out about the memory charm? I can't imagine the Oracle would have left that obvious a loophole in things.

For a spell that big, I would assume that people who are specifically invited in by the Oracle are immune to the memory charm. And in most of the games I've played in, people always forget to buy parchment and quills before an adventure so they wouldn't be able to write it down.

I also wonder how the Oracle plans to gain that experience back - does he have a whole backyard full of appropriately-leveled creatures that he can just zap with a wand of fireballs until they die? He doesn't appear to have PC levels, so he probably can't fight.

He probably gains XP for every vision he has, and I bet whatever he's planning to do with Roy involves some sort of XP gain. That and he really doesn't need that kobold village anymore so a few fireballs would do the trick

Any mention of the memory charm is removed by the memory charm.

I know this is a far way away from TG, but I swear to christ that if any player in a D&D game I'm running refers to an enemy as a "mob" (unless it is a large group of enemies, complete with torches and pitchforks), or their character as a "toon", I will loving burn their character sheet in front of them. That being said, I also really want the group to get back together. This has had its share of ups and downs (and ) but it has gone on a bit too long.

I think you're making the memory charm a lot more complicated than it is. The terms of the charm were you only remember the answer to a question you asked the oracle, and their question was to confirm the next time he'd need them. Literally all they did was rez him, ask when he'd need a rez again, and leave. It seems like a pretty simple solution to me.
