Thanks :)

It's actually a combination of two tracks, both from the OST for Plunkett & Maclean, by Craig Armstrong. The less dramatic bit at the start of the preview is track 15, Hanging. The more amped up part is track 16, Escape.

They begin again

Heard a song on Sirius hard attack earlier.

Melodic Death/Deathcore sounding

Not Killswitch Engange

Had tons of fast riffing and double bass

Has a part where the vocalist said ABSOLUTION

Had a few semi clean parts (chorus I think but maybe not)

Any ideas? I know that's super vague but the song was fairly generic.

Now, bear with me, because I haven't heard any of these songs, and I don't know that any of them qualify as melodic death or deathcore, but here are some guesses:

Trivium - "Rain"
Stratovarius - "Soul of a Vagabond"
Shadows Fall - "Haunting Me Endlessly"
Dew-Scented - "Cities of the Dead"

Probably didn't help much, but hey, I tried. :haw:

Looking for a rap song that samples Phil Collins' "Easy Lover". I'm pretty sure it's Lupe Fiasco but I can't seem to find the track.

Could it possibly be from this guy, Poizon Assasin? Just a stab in the dark.

I think you're thinking of "Happy" from the new N.E.R.D. record.

Sorry, I should clarify a little bit more. It doesn't directly sample the beat or anything, just the first 10 or so seconds of the song when it's building up. Upon further wondering, it's beginning to sound kind of like Jay-Z in my head.

I got this from a (transcoded) Audioslave CD. It was a bootleg "Civilian Project" CD featuring their demos. While the demos were legit, some of the songs were just Temple Of The Dog songs. However, this one song cannot possibly be them. It doesn't sound like the music of Audioslave/RATM/Soundgarden/TOTD. And that's sure not Chris Cornell singing. Trying to search for the lyrics only brings up more people talking about trying to figure out who this song is done by, or this song labeled as an Audioslave song.

The CD cover art was just a poorly modified Photoshop, and the CD was probably just a CDR with an inkjet printing on it. Someone at Waffles.fm helped me confirm it was a transcode, so I sent it back to the seller on eBay.

Not a song, but an entire band: In the late '90s, I was listening to some songs from what I remember to be a Canadian alt-rock band who were very popular in their home country and yet had some arty pretensions (it may have only been in the lyrics). Can anyone remember a band that fits this description?

The "arty pretensions" sounds like The Tea Party to me, they were a fantastic pretentious band. Could be a number of bands though. Any further description, maybe a uniqueness to their sound or a comparison?

edit: vvv gently caress I don't know how I always overlook the Hip. If it's anyone it's probably them.

I Mother Earth, Our Lady Peace, and the Matthew Good Band were all pretty pretentious.

I'm looking for band in the vein of J.U.S.T.I.C.E, all i remember is that they had a few songs named after "times of the day" IE: 4:20 or 9:30. There was a thread about them a while back if it helps.

I have a rap song bugging me that I can't loving remember the name of for the last like several weeks.

All I remember is it opened with a guy walking with his girlfriend and some guys starting poo poo with him, the guys girlfriend begs him to ignore it and he ends up shooting them or some poo poo and then the song starts, the song also kicked tons of rear end. It was early 90s I think and had at least one big name rapper.

Dr. Dre (with Ice Cube) - Natural Born Killaz?

EDIT: Now I'm convinced it's not "Natural Born Killaz" but I too know the song you're talking about and it's bugging the hell out of me.

I think it's a somewhat popular song. It reminds me of the Proclaimers, but I do not think it's from the 80s; more 90s. Male voice, not very low. The hook goes through the song over and over. Acoustic guitar maybe, bass, drums, vocals are all I really remember. Very major sounding. Very poppy.

Any ideas?

I heard a song today on my local alternative station with a female vocalist, and it was semi upbeat. The only lyric I remember is "where do you get off telling me ___" or something similar. I don't know who to compare it to, maybe the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Les Artistes? Thanks.

The song has a part that goes (literally) like this with a high pitched voice:

I dunno but it may be from the 50s-60s.
