- The Lady Killer perk appears drat near useless. I've had one extra dialogue option (which didn't do anything), Super Mutants don't have gender, and I'm over halfway through the game, by my estimates.
- Don't fret too much over what skills you tag. All that does is add 15 to them, so it affects the beginning of the game.
- The perks that give you extra skills points from leveling up and from books are both quite useful and should be taken as early as possible.

I just purchased Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition and any remaining modules, so I should have everything "official" for the game. I know about the Player Resource Consortium mod which adds classes, spells and the like, but is this something I should be using on a first play-through? Any other mods out there that might be worth looking into? Is there a resource that ranks or reviews player-created modules, someplace that details which are worth downloading?

I will burn my dread.

I recently picked up a NOMAD, which is a blessing for the flights between my university and back home. I decided to christen it with Shadowrun (for the Genesis, obviously), but within twenty minutes I was fed up and frustrated. It seems like every random person on the street would attack me, and retaliating left me with too little ammo, or excessive damage. I definitely need some tips for what to keep in mind when I try this out on my flight home for Thanksgiving.

This may have been said, but guns in STALKER are considerably more accurate when in iron sights, and in fact, being in iron sights ignores your current stance so it allows you to fire at maximum accuracy regardless of movement, crouching etc, unlike crosshairs where you must be low crouched and not moving to get good, but still subpar to iron sight, accuracy. Scopes do not adjust the accuracy of the guns in any way.

Input ABBACAB during the logo screen and then go to your Pocket Secretary and the bottom invisibile option for the debug menu. That game is really awful but at least cheating makes it tolerable.

Devil May Cry 4
- Dante is usually more fun to use and more complex, but Nero is much more powerful thanks to the Buster, Snatch, and Level III charged shot.

Nero is easier to make powerful, but Dante's normal Rebellion slashes are as strong as Nero's Exceed slashes, and he has better alternatives to Snatching in a lot of cases.

Some tips for specific annoying enemies:

Fausts/Mephistos (flying cloak enemies)
Nero: Charge Shot 3 gets rid of cloaks instantly, but while its charging hitting them with Buster and Snatch if they run away is the quickest way to do it. If you charge shot before their cloak comes back up, the explosion can kill them with the cloak up.

Dante:
Switch to Gunslinger, equip the shotgun, jump in as close as possible and hit O. You'll probably knock off their cloak instantly, if not fire a couple more shotgun shots. You can real impact to instantly kill them afterwards on some difficulties.

Blitzes (Lightning enemies)
Nero: Charge shot whenever he leaves himself exposed, don't bother spamming bullets otherwise. Devil trigger and keep Bustering afterwards. Remember to keep pressing Square during the Buster animation; those knives that are summoned when firing your gun in DT can be summoned while you're doing a Buster, too.

Dante: You can actually attack him with his lightning up. Switch to Royal Guard, hit him and instantly hit block. It takes a while to learn the timing, but when you get it right you can just attack him until his shield is gone instead of having to wait and dodge and shoot while he runs around being unpredictable.

Blanco Angelo / Alto Angelo (iron statues)
Nero: You can Buster them when their shields are red to break them. The Spear types can be bustered from the back, but it leaves you vulnerable to other enemies; it's usually better to launch them from the back and do an air combo. the Sword types it can be better to Buster; their animation leaves you less vulnerable and also does loads of damage to them. If they're together and do that Black Hole charging thing they have, hit it with a charge shot to kill them all instantly and get an SSS rank.

Dante: Don't bother with the shields. Run behind them and hit them and they'll die really fast, because he does so much damage. They're good targets for Real Impact after a launch, they're not going anywhere.

Annoying infested enemies:

Nero: Keep shooting them so you stun the seeds and they don't attack you mid combo. Don't buster them, it's just asking for trouble.

Dante: One Shotgun Stinger (level 4 gunslinger+shotgun) will kill those stupid seeds on top so you can fight them like normal enemies who aren't annoying combo breaking faggots

Frosts:

Nero: Keep snatching. Normal attacks won't always interrupt their attacks, but Snatches will. Whenever you see yourself in potential danger, Snatch and they'll trip and you can go back to hitting them.

Dante: No tricks like Nero here. Just pay attention to when they aren't being stunned and don't use moves with long recovery times.

Protip: MOO2 has to access the CD for tons of its art assets, and I don't believe there is an option for full install since hard drives were so small back when it was made. These disk checks really suck since they slow down the game. You can get around them, though. Copy all the files from the CD and put them in a folder called "MOO2CD" or something like that. Now go into the folder where you have the game installed. There should be a config file called "ORIONCD". Open this up and change whatever it says to the path of your newly created folder with all the CD files. Note that if you use DOSBox then you have to use the path that DOSBox recognizes, not necessarily the actual path.

Example: I have I have MOO2 installed twice, once for dosbox and once for without. My CD file for plain windows:
C:\Program Files\Microprose\Orion2\MoO2 CD

For dosbox, the actual path is:
C:\Dosprog\MoO2CD

However, since DOSBox recognizes dosprog as my C: drive, DOSBox recognizes it as:
C:\MoO2CD

Did you buy my copy of shadowrun from SAmart? If so, I feel a sense of responsibility here.

The beginning choice of character is pretty much magic user vs. st samurai. A street samurai can do everything a decker can do and is also badass in combat. You just need to buy a data jack. For a first play through, you should probably play a samurai anyway. The shaman can be very powerful but it's a lot tougher to make money and money is the name of the game.

When you get enough money, hire the runner in the first bar, take all his stuff, and sell it. You'll make more than your money back.

People will randomly attack you. These are gang members and if you can kill them, it's worth it, but if you can't, there is almost no penalty for death. You should be able to survive these attacks in the first area after you get just a little bit of money and a little better gun. If not, keep hammering away until you can increase your combat skills.

The trick to the game is to get money for the best possible equipment and to get karma for the best possible character. The way you get the first one is to get a datajack and do simple matrix runs. On matrix runs, you can find datastores and d/l random files. These can be sold to a fence in the lowerleft corner of downtown. As you get more money, upgrade your deck or buy new ones.

The fastest way to get karma (experience) is in the first area, just doing escort and delivery missions. You can earn a lot of karma in a couple hours. The way you have to look at this game is like an old school RPG. Instead of grinding endlessly against slimes, you do this and matrix runs.

In the matrix the only two useful programs are attack and deception. Don't waste memory or money on anything else.

In order to get some money for your datajack, once you've got a good pistol and decent armor, do the ghoul bounties. If you can negotiate up to 50/ghoul, you can make good money.

There is a debug mode. Once the logo starts scrolling but before the "Press Start" prompt comes up, press ABBACAB. Then go to the invisible selection below the last selection on your pocket secretary. Most of these options are VERY cheaty and spoil the game, but the "RUN FASTER" thing isn't so bad. It helps a lot with the aforementioned karma grinding.

I don't use iron sights. They may be more accurate but that's vastly outweighed by the fact that your lower vision is completely obstructed and you take so drat long to reacquire your target after the recoil.

The enemies generally do die in one headshot, especially to the back of the head (even fuckoff armored dudes). Use plenty of cover and don't bother trying to go for a headshot in the beginning of the game until you're very close or have a more accurate weapon than the POS pistol you start out with.

This caps at +127 attack after 254 jumps, which is roughly the amount you'll use if you play through the game without trying to powerlevel.

Can anyone else confirm this? I just started a new game, and after extensive searching of gamefaqs and doing it for myself for a couple levels worth I haven't noticed any increase, stat-wise, in regular or special attack, and my attacks seem to do roughly the same amount of damage.

Can anyone give me some help with Darklands?

Specifically, is there any way to transfer alchemical formulas to another party member? For some reason my leader got a nice transform spell even though he knows nothing about alchemy and now I can't use it. :argh: and how long does it take to be able to learn a saint from a church again? I waited 10 days and I couldn't get access again.

What I've learned:

-kill bandits and muggers till you can get some decent weapons before setting out
-give someone in your party a decent heal skill or you'll be healing by 2 pts a day or less
-hit C when you're on the overworld to camp and do stuff
-hold shift while dragging items between party members lets you move a whole stack at once

I think you can only learn particular saints in each city. I also don't think there is any waiting period (except for once a day), but rather the access to the church is dependent on your charisma and latin skills. It is also helped by donating to the church.

I made an intro thread to the game a while back that had a bunch of resources but I can't seem to find it anymore. It was called "You NEED to play Darklands"

It depends on where you start in the game but you might have a hidden ship or two in sectors near where you start. One ship that is very useful for getting trade rolling and is easy to get if you start in the space near Argon Prime is located In one of the six Boron sectors a bit to the north

That's cool, wish I hadn't missed that thread. I found out about Darklands through a well done LP by Forest Fuckery (though he sadly never finished it.) Any interest in reposting that thread or letting my shamelessly steal your OP for a repost?

I'm even more unsure about the churches now. Not only have I donated to the church but I have left and come back a month later and the learn about Saints option is still grayed out. Which sucks, because, like you said, you can only learn about specific saints at certain places. I'm beginning to think I'm just SOL.

drat, are you sure about the formula thing, because that majorly blows. It pretty much makes trading for formulas impossible for me now. Somehow, I think from defeating a witch, my leader (not my alchemist) got a couple of formulas and whenever I go to trade for formulas he is always the one doing the trading! So, therefore, if my actual alchemist wants a formula I have to pay out the rear end for it.

Is there anyway to delete spells or control who gets them? Also, I am just doing something wrong, but do you have no control on the formula trading process? If you chose it you're just going to randomly loose one formula and gain another?

That probably has to do with who you have designated as the leader. Their name should be in red. I think right-clicking changes who the leader is.

I'm pretty sure if the option to learn a saint is greyed out you need to go to another church. Even if the church doesn't like you, it will list the saints available and let you know you can't learn them after you select them.

It's less weird than it sounds. Basically, when enemies die they release these glowing purple things (I forget what they're called, I think Phozons). So these phozons can either be absorbed into your weapon which increases your attack, or you can plant seeds, which absorb phozons in order to grow and then release fruit. You eat the fruit to increase health. So you're balancing health and attack experience, essentially. It's pretty cool how it works, especially the alchemy system.
