If you don't love filling out paperwork and cataloging artifacts then how the gently caress did you get through making a mage character in the first place??

I no longer believe in the greater purpose.

Mage book, p. 115, talking about sympathetic connections posted:

In addition to the penalties suffered for a weak
sympathetic connection, the “metaphysical
weight” of a target adversely affects a caster’s
ability to achieve a direct sympathetic connection.
The more well known a person is by other
people (especially strangers, who don’t know
him personally but might project their hopes and
fears upon him), the harder he is to grasp
sympathetically.
Subtract the target’s Fame Merit dots from the
spellcasting roll. For example, when trying to
affect the Queen of England with a sympathetic
spell, subtract three dice for her Fame 3.

So in other words if I want to kill the Queen of England from two continents away I just need to spend a WP first. I guess it makes sense that the British Arrow or Veil would have set up bans and wards and counterspells and whatever else there is, but do all celebrities really have that sort of magic retinue? Tom Cruise? The cast of "Gray's Anatomy"? The Jonas Brothers?

that's not the result of other mages tossing up countermagic

famous people have so many more sympathetic connections than regular folk that it throws up sorcerous 'chaff' and makes it more difficult for your spells to grab on to them

other mages might have placed protective spells on famous people in addition to this effect

Plus the Jonas Brothers are clearly True Fae who subsist on a heady cocktail of adulation and annoyance, and therefore far beyond your puny meddlings

i mentioned them specifically because i figured they were famous enough that somebody might want to kill them but not so important that they'd have their own arrow security spells

seconding this

edit: i'm going to put this here so it can be discussed.

The current plan is to knock out Ernie/Earl (Earlnie?) so we can send him home. Socharis will spend some time casting Spirit Walk, while Matryoshka sends him to a nice gentle sleep with an improvised Mind 4. While he's out, Matryoshka will try to do the following:
1) Fix his memories; at the very least, let him remember who he is. Second priority is digging up what happened to him when he got transferred to the Shadow World.
2) Fix his mental derangements. I don't know if he's legit insane, but the dude doesn't need PTSD from this.
3) Any other suggestions?
