You should play that Super Robot Taisen: Endless Saga RPG that just came out for the DS, I think it'd help the healing process.

Yeah, that's really for the best. AT2 is even worse. Much, much, much worse. Nam flashbacks worse. (Not to mention that the translation of AT2 was so bad that the NISA head publisher had to publicly apologize for it.)

The actual translation was really bad. A lot of basic wording and script-writing were basically sub-fansub quality and nowhere near professional level. At its very worst, it approached Hong Kong Bootleg Subtitles level and became borderline incoherent.

However, even beyond that, the game's localization was a loving mess. For example, they failed to translate some of the text. Not uncommon text either. One of the most common lines in the game is left in untranslated Japanese text. There are flat-out wrong translations as well that will occasionally tell you to go to wrong places to advance the plot. The voice acting is hosed up so that the Japanense and English tracks will switch back and forth at random during the course of battle. The very worst error is that one of the game's final bosses, who also doubles as the game's super-ultimate optional boss, was broken by the translation. If you didn't defeat them in a certain time period (3 rounds), one of their attacks would crash the game.

I just read the entire thread in five days! I'm so proud of myself! Kudos to Spirit Armour for making a great LP out of a mediocre game. One of the first DVD's I ever owned was a collection of the first Sakura Wars OAV episodes. I thought the plot was pretty confusing and now I finally know why - there IS no plot!

Funnily enough my two favorite characters from the OAV are still awesome, and I would've voted for them if I could. Kanna and Sumire are awesome. I can still remember how Kanna saved Iris by PUNCHING ACID in the first episode.

There are not enough words to describe just how :hellyeah: that was.

Although, there is also Kanna's introduction, where she's beating up a bunch of sailors, and Kohran showing off her GIANT, STEAM-POWERED BAZOOKA.

Have you seen the random stuff that others, including myself, have mentioned in here through obscure connections? It could be anything! We've already had Code Geass, Gurren Laggen, Macross Frontier, Turkish Star wars, and any other series that I have missed... and I know I missed at least three. >_>

I'm not going to trawl through the dark depths of the internet for more disturbing Sakura Taisen images. You can do that yourself. :colbert:

[Incidentally, "Maria Tachibana" is apparently the name of a chubby Japanese porn 'actress'. Who'd've thought?]

The fact that it does is somewhat disturbing (to me, at least). On the upside, it seems that just about any link will do, which should serve as future guidelines for the rest of us.

It's unfortunate that those two have gotten singled out, it takes the magic out of it a bit. With a proper atmosphere of curiosity and dread people would mouseover every smiley in the thread. :ninja:
