That's not to say it's my favorite Streetlight song, I just like it better than Somewhere in the Between. My favorite song on that album is probably The Receiving End Of It All.

We Will Fall Together seems like the only ska song people know around here for some reason. Anyway, I've been building up my ska collection over the past year. I got into it not too long ago, and I spent the last semester looking into shows. I'm really looking forward to Warped Tour just to see Streetlight, but there's a bunch of local ska bands playing in Dallas (Rise of the Goners, Rule 34, One Short and some others) in June. I've never been to a show before, let alone a ska one, so is there anything I can expect or something so I don't look like a jackass?

The Dallas ska scene is poo poo. No offense to The Goners but god drat, there is a reason good bands skip Dallas now. Ska shows don't have rules just go and please actually dance even though nobody else will

Ugh, I hate the Goners so much. A couple of them went to my school and they were such douches. They got so much worse after the first singer quit and they tried to become all deep and arty. I'm surprised they're still around.

I seem to have switched to "What a Wicked Gang are We" I think it has something to do with the fact I always listen to the whole album in one shot, and it's a great capper. My least (all relative of course) favorite might be Mephisto's Cafe

Lurchington posted:My least (all relative of course) favorite might be Mephisto's Cafe That's actually my favorite song on the album, the "don't crack" part after the trombone solo reminds me a lot of the "waited for the phone" part in point/counterpoint. Worst tracks on the album have to be Watch it Crash and Forty Days. This does not mean they're bad songs, though.

Forty Days is one of my favorites I loved Mephisto's when I first heard it, but I think I listened to it too much and now I don't like it as much. The Blonde Lead The Blind is probably my least favorite, I don't even remember what it sounds like.

Has anyone seen "The Beat"' or "Hepcat" before? Are they any good? Also, I see that RBF has abandoned all their real websites except for their myspace. Reel-big-fish links to their myspace and reelbigfish is bought by some other guy.

The Supervillians come here all the friggen time (South Texas) and yet I've never caught them in concert. I gave a listen to one of their CD and I'm still on the fence about them.

The Supervillians are an amazing band live. I first saw them several years ago and haven't caught them live in a couple years, but the shows I saw were always amazing. Unfortunately on their cds they've been more and more evolving into playing stoner reggae. They've always played that poo poo but it's coming up more and more lately, so I'm afraid their live shows are skewing that way as well. Their ska and punk stuff is amazing, but their loving songs like 'mary jane and jagermeister' 'resin' and all that other poo poo is really annoying. I'm sure they're still great live, just hope they play a lot of their non-weed songs or it might not be that enjoyable. Also the Beat is the English Beat, just different musicians playing in the beat since the actual English Beat only tours the UK as far as I know.

No way am I going to miss that show. It'll be nice to make my RBF count to an even 4, and I've wanted to see Hepcat, the Beat and the Supervillians live for ages. Anyway, if there are any other 916goons here, I'm playing in a ska/punk show tonight. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/alvinthegreat/june6flier.jpg This is my last show with the band (The Street Vendors), so I would like to see lots of people there.
