blugu64 posted:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HsUKgotJ1U I enjoyed it but I think it was a bit intense for a track day. I mean really for the most part its just a bunch of guys shooting the poo poo before going super fast on the track. Occasionally there is a crash.

I think the most surprising thing to me was what that was shot on: That's some awesome loving camera and post-work there.

Doesn't matter anyway, they've all been removed after Dorna lodged DMCA notices. Seriously, gently caress Dorna. Do they really think people who want to see short clips of crashes on YouTube will pay them for the full race footage?

It's unrelated to motorcycles, but someone representing the DMCA went into an indoor skatepark I go to and told them they couldn't play music unless they paid them 5 grand a year, or they'd be sued. That poo poo is getting stupid.

Radio, on the other hand, might be a bit more doable, since licensing is handled by the broadcaster. Depending on their business/tax status, there might be some loopholes if you're interested in it. edit: I'm not a lawyer, btw. Handiklap fucked around with this message at 20:12 on Jul 23, 2009 |

That poo poo is getting stupid. On topic: I don't know anything about racing. I'm curious about the fallout from a crash, especially one that takes out other riders. What happens when you get a pileup like that? Everyone loses the race, but the people who were in back get a lucky break and zoom to first? Is the guy who lost control and caused the wrecks hated and spit on after the race? Seems like the only fair option would be a restart or something, but I doubt that's how it works.

chryst posted:You mean ASCAP. And I wouldn't doubt that it was actually someone from Muzak. A friend of mine worked for Muzak, and they'd send people into small coffee shops and stuff to extort them into paying to publicly playing the radio. (It's not legal to rebroadcast it without permission.) You crash, and it pretty much sucks to be you. You torpedo someone else making a really stupid move, and chances are nothing really significant is going to happen. People will be upset, and you don't want to torpedo a competitor, but it's racing and poo poo happens. At some point or another, every racer who's been around long enough has done something stupid and caused a crash or almost caused a crash.

Lol, bet that was an rear end pucker moment, I hit a small bird doing 70ish(++)in south AL in March and am glad as hell I had the visor down because it hit hard enough to make me think it had broken the visor, it's hard to say what would have happened if it had smacked me in the face. Heh, I saw a Cavalier hit a turkey at 70mph on the highway last year, and it busted the entire loving windshield into the car. I'd hate to think of what it could do to a helmet.
