I was completely unimpressed by Slaves of the World on first spin, maybe I need to give it time to grow on me or something? I liked In Defiance of Existance quite a lot.

Everything from In Defiance and on is very similar, if you ask me. Maybe your tastes have changed? I dunno, Vermin and Slaves are very similar and In Defiance isn't too deviating from those two at all. When you get to pre-Defiance is when poo poo starts sounding different.

Heard a teaser of the new Marduk. Based on the :30 or so that is posted, it seems to have some melodic influences. I've only listened to a few of their older albums, and this sounds a bit different. In any case, looking forward to the release next week.

You say that as if the relative quality of the first 4 albums hasn't already solidified his point. Gorgoroth's material has taken a noticeable dip in quality since the point King and Gaahl claimed Infernus stopped writing music - talk about damning their own cause. Gaahl and King ov Hell were never integral to Gorgoroth and their success, and only a johnny-come-lately would think otherwise.

Do you think this new album will be a make-or-break point for you and the band, or has that already happened for you? I don't, as I enjoy the Gaahl/King albums as much as the first few, even with the blatant departure of their original sound. I hope that this new Infernus album will be a resurgence of the classic second wave style, and am anxiously awaiting the release.

I've enjoyed their albums Incipit Satan (personal fav) onward probably the most. Although, I too believe the new album will solidify Infernus' cred as the major creative force of the band (minus King and Gaahl).

I don't like most of the stuff Gorgoroth has released with Gaahl on vocals. The songwriting and the vocals were so much better on the first albums. A good friend of mine is going to see them at the Hole in the Sky festival in Bergen this Saturday, which will be the first gig with Infernus back in the band. I'll be at my lovely job. gently caress.
