We got so caught up in other stuff, sex didn't happen at the right time. Oh well. :)

We flew to Atlanta for my sister's wedding the day I ovulated, and for some reason the thought of baby making in my childhood bed seemed sort of creepy.

Could be a UTI. Sometimes if I hold my pee too long, once I finally go, I get a bit of cramping in my bladder, uterus and surrounding areas. It goes away shortly after I'm done peeing. You might get more answers in the pregnancy thread though. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3074285

We're really not! Most of us in there started posting when were pregnant. You just caught us at a bad time, there seems to be cycles of mini-baby booms in there so you probably caught us just when a lot of people had recently had their babies. I hope this isn't a dumb question. I was going to ask my gyno when I went in for a consultation but I totally forgot.

My ovulation tests came back sort of positive yesterday afternoon and I'm pretty sure positive this morning. We had sex in the middle of the night last night (yay for visiting family around ovulation time! We have to sneak around and have stealth sex like high school kids cause our bed is squeaky and our floors are squeaky) and today we're going to the ocean for the day. Do I have to worry about things getting washed out and the ocean water loving with all the fluids down there and making last nights work more or less useless? We've had sex more or less every other day for the past several days so I'm hoping to have a good store up there.

I had a consultation at the gyno on thursday. That was a bit promising. She looked at my charts (On chart 4 now!) and said it looks like I'm ovulating based on them but 7 days after my LH surge/Temp spike I have to go back to do a blood test and they're going to see how my hormones are doing. Does anyone know what they'd be looking for? I'd guess progesterone levels?

I hate reading ovulation tests. I'm pretty sure I got a positive today. If my family wasn't staying with me I would have taken a pic of it and posted it, but I don't want my mom to know we're trying because she'd be calling me every day asking me if I was pregnant yet and I don't need that stress.

Yay, congrats on ovulating! (That sounded less lame in my head). The ocean won't wash away any deposits in your hoohah. Generally you pee some of it out after sex, but there's still a lot going further upward toward your cervix and behind your cervix that's protected.

Not sure what the blood test would be for. Progesterone seems likely but there are a few other hormones released around the time of ovulation. It would be too early to be looking for elevated HCG levels for most women. I've heard of people getting positive results at 6dpo, but it's rare. No harm in calling them up to ask.

Ovulation tests can be a bitch. Some people's levels are always somewhat elevated, so they always have some sort of a line and some people's levels are always too low and a line never shows up. I was lucky in that I didn't have any sort of line at all until the day or two before ovulation and then it was gone within a day or two. There was no mistaking it for me.

I would recommend checking your cervical mucus consistency and cervical height/softness. If you know what you're looking for, it should correlate with ovulation time. Generally around ovulation, cervical mucus looks like it has an (pre-cooked) egg white consistency. Your cervix (if you're used to how it regularly feels) should be lower and more squishy than usual. I could never tell the difference in my cervical mucus. I'd always sit there scratching my head saying "hunh" when reading TTC threads and people going on and on about it. I could however, always tell the difference in my cervix if I went looking for it. I would just about always get a cramp on the side I was ovulating from, so even without the tests, I could often tell when I was ovulating.

Fingers are crossed for you. I hope this is your month. Now onto the two week wait (i.e. hell. Well, at least it always was for me.).

I recently went off birth control, but we're not actively trying. Just passively I guess. One the one hand, I want it to happen (we're ready financially and emotionally, or as ready as it is possible to get - the money situation might be tight, but doable). But I'm scared shitless now that the chance of it actually happening is real. What have I done? :S

Anyway, one thing I never thought about is how I should probably don't take migraine medication? I have these pills called sumatriptan (imigran, imitrex are alternate names) which I take when I feel a migraine coming. They're pretty powerful, so I wouldn't want to risk taking one while pregnant. Anyone else here have any experience with these? Or with migraine and pregnancy in general? (I guess I should ask that last question in the pregnancy thread, but as I'm not actually knocked up yet, I came here).

Sounds a lot like us last year.

In regards to the migraine medicine: I had a few migraines during pregnancy and Tylenol just wouldn't do the trick. I called my OBGYN and they prescribed Fioricet. It worked pretty well, but you had to take it as soon as you felt the slight onset of a headache for it to be effective.

That sounds like the OTC drug I used to take for migraines before I got the heavy duty pills. They had a combination of something and caffeine in them and were fairly effective if I took them right away as you say. Good to know that is an option, thanks!

How long have you been off the pill for? The pill can cause/enhance getting migraines and their frequency. It took a month or two off the pill before my migraine frequency/severity decreased pretty much entirely (I still get the odd migraine here or there, but it's rare). We didn't know that the pill was what was causing mine and only found out after months of agonizing 2 - 3 weeks out of the month type of constant migraines. It's worse with some brands. With the first type of pill I was on, I got a few per month. I later switched to a different pill because the first was killing my libido, but the second kind gave me the hellish migraines. Took a while to figure it out because they didn't start for a month or so after starting the new pill.

Not saying that everyone on the pill who gets migraines has them caused by the pill, but you may be lucky and find that they start to go away or aren't nearly as bad anymore. You should talk to your doctor about more pregnancy friendly alternatives. I've gotten a few migraines since getting pregnant and I've taken those days slowly with my eyes covered. Not taking meds sucks.

I've only been off the pill for a couple of weeks, and I haven't gotten a migraine yet. So far so good! My doc said many women get fewer migraines while pregnant for some reason, I hope that's true for me as well. I usually get from 1 to 4 a month, but control them with medication. That way, I just get the aura and a mild headache. Without the medicine, the headache gets really bad and I sometimes throw up.

I've had migraines since I was 14, before I started taking the pill. Whether the pill increased their frequency, I don't really know. Stress and too little sleep seems to be the worst, so I try to lead a well scheduled life ;)

I developed a severe kind of headache called an epidural headache after I had an epidural while delivering my son. They gave me IV caffeine and Fiorcet and that poo poo was MAGIC. It fixed my headache right away. I didn't realize it was pregnancy safe and I'm not sure if it is designed for migraines, but it's probably worth a try because it really works.

I'm on Topamax for my migraines or I get them so bad I have them daily and can't work/sleep/eat/live and that stuff is unsafe, as far as I've read and been told, so hearing these alternatives is really great for whenever if I'll be lucky enough to have kids.

"FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether this medication is harmful to an unborn baby. Before using Imitrex, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment."

I'd talk to the prescribing doc about alternatives to Imitrex before trying to conceive, perhaps even go see a specialist for preconception counseling. A lot of migraine specific medications may be described as category C just because there is not enough data to say whether or not it is safe. I worked in an OB/GYN office (not in a medical capacity) and the doc usually recommended taking OTC extra strength tylenol for pain.

Thats good that it all didn't get washed away. I knew it wouldn't really affect anything past my cervix, I'm just paranoid. Usually ovulation tests show absolutely nothing. Then yesterday there was a second line, but it wasn't as dark as the first line and today the line was darker, but not quite as dark as the first but it might just be the professional artist in me being picky. I guess I'm lucky that my cervical fluid is pretty apparent when it becomes fertile. I really hope I get pregnant this month so I don't have to deal with the Carolina summer and being really far along.

I am trying not to stress out. I went off my birthcontrol at the end of June and haven't gotten a period yet. I've been on it for about 11 years, and I know it takes a while to get back into a normal cycle. I scheduled a doctor's appointment just because it seemed to make sense. I figured they'd do a pregnancy test and tell me not to worry, I'm just still dealing with the after effects of the birth control.

Instead, before even asking me if it was possible if I was pregnant (which is weird because that is usually the first thing doctors ask me even when I am on bc) she asked me why I had been put on the birth control in the first place. I told her (I have a tendency to get ovarian cysts that rupture when I'm not on bc) and she asked me if I'd ever been tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which is apparently the leading cause of female infertility.

I'm pretty sure I don't have POS after looking up more about the symptoms, but I'm waiting on the test results.

When I went off bc after about 20 years on it, I didn't get my period back for a few months, until I stopped dieting. I had been on a strict weight-loss diet for 2 years prior and until I loosened up and added some more fat to my diet, and daily full-fat dairy, I didn't get my period back. 2.5 months after I went to a more generous diet, I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter. Just another thought to add to the mix.

I didn't get a period back after getting off BC at all. I was on it for about 8 years, having been on Depo for 4 years previous to getting on the pill. I went off the pill in January, and in July I got pregnant. I didn't really think anything of the 7 months without a period, because I was irregular before the pill, and I figured my body just needed time to readjust to the change in hormone levels. This is how I discovered that I do, indeed, ovulate even if I don't bleed. :D

What really helped me was using ovulation test strips. I, too, though I'd need a period to ovulate. But I bought a pack of test strips from http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/ which I believe has been pimped in here before, and began tracking daily. I was surprised when less than a week later, I actually detected a LH surge, and we got pregnant the first time around. :)
