I repurchased BG1/BG2/Expansions and Arcanum when I found them on DVD. Not having 6 cds to go through is great.

Drog Black Tooth's unofficial patch removes the CD check from the game, so no loss.

So how is the original Bloodrayne? I rented the second one and thought it was decent if mindless. Does it control well at all with a Keyboard/Mouse setup? (Says the man who purchased Earthworm Jim 3D for "nostalgia.")

Random anecdote but my first/only exposure to this game was a site I accidentally stumbled onto a site that was all about torturing Norns and had pictures from Rotten.com and porn sites thrown around. Probably Geocities, so it's gone now The Internet So are these games good? Sounds like Sims with Furbies?

I remember those Creatures series not being too bad, but not much "game" to it. Kind of like Little Computer People for the Commodore 64, but with more 'cuteness' shoved into it. If you like artificial life simulators, and you enjoyed the Creature training portion of the game Black and White, you'll like it.

God drat, I remember Creatures. I still have the CD and manual for the first game but now I'm contemplating repurchasing it just so I can try out Creatures 2 and 3. If you like virtual pet games, you should really give it a shot. It's a little more involved with the DDNA and and biochemistry but you can ignore them if it gets too complex for you. Try hatching a bunch of Norns at once and let the game run in the background. See how long they last! The games are modable and, to my surprise, there are still websites with add-ons to download. (Toys, food, new breeds, a few other things) Plus, the first game was endorsed by Douglas Adams. How can you go wrong with that?

zombieman posted:Just purchased Divine Divinity. Any tips for not getting my arse kicked? Put a point into Alchemy so you can combine health and mana potions into Restoration potions, which restore 50% of your maximum Health and mana. Save both soldiers in Aleroth to learn a healing spell, so even warriors can put their mana to good use. If you have Meteorstrike or find a good-condition short bow in one of the Aleroth houses, you can go from level 1 to 4 right away by killing Zombie Jake twice - once in the graveyard by moving the flowers to his grave, and a second time in his cellar. Just don't let him hit you in melee, you'll lose a straight-up fight.

The Machine posted:I'd like to know how good/bad Heritage is as well. I guess it's not really a bad game as such, but it lacks any semblance of charm. It also plays more like Age of Empires than Settlers; you control individual units both in combat and construction, for example. All the voices are either dull and unremarkable or obnoxiously stupid, and you'll want to strangle the villagers after half an hour at most. In the end I just didn't have fun building up my village, which is what these games are all about to me. If you want something that's kind of like Settlers without being Settlers, buy Knights and Merchants instead.

Driving a space tank, building a base, and sniping people out of their machines all at the same time.

That actually gets me thinking that there are still a ton of good Apogee games they should have on this service. If they threw out a huge bundle of all the poo poo I used to play on my 486 I'd be all over it.

Pretty much everything of theirs missing from GOG is on https://www.buy3drealms.com -- I guess they just put the Duke games on GOG because they're popular and kept everything else to themselves because they don't want to be sharing all their profits. Some of it is pretty unreasonably priced too (especially considering you can get poo poo like the full Commander Keen pack on Steam for $5) but... well, it's there. Also there's that free new Windows port of Death Rally.
