Was it actually clean, or was it WCW clean?

For some reason I feel like Starrcade 96 was the match that wasn't announced as non title before hand, so Piper won, but not the title even though it was played up as this huge thing that he'd won and beaten Hogan.

The sale was announced the previous week. It leaked on March 22nd 2001, and was officially announced on the 23rd.

(The only reason I know this is I happened to listen to the WWF buys WCW episode of WOL that happened the day of the announcement. It's funny how accurate Dave and Bryan's predictions were, right down to Nash just sitting out his contract and becoming more valuable after things got stale.)

And it was loving amazing, and part of why the Invasion felt so disappointing. What's great is that Shane had only recently debuted new music of his own to come out to.

I listened to those old WOL shows a year ago and I was amazed how the callers came up with some horrible ideas that were still better than what happened. It brought back how bad the Invasion really was.

Can someone please tell me where the music starting at about 0:12 comes from? It seems incredibly familiar and I'm probably going to be very embarassed once it's identified, but I just can't place it anywhere.

I say just do a point system like they're doing for the WH2K yearly awards. Brackets will just end up knocking out serious contenders in the first round, and there's no good way to rank stuff when it's all over.

Anybody know where I can get some public domain pro wrestling images (shots of moves being performed especially)? I'm working on a browser game.

Supposedly these are PD but it doesn't seem like they possibly could all really be.

EDIT: I found some in Wikimedia Commons but if anyone else has some other resources that'd be cool.

Not sure if you'll be able to find anything useful, but Flickr allows you to search for images with a Creative Commons licence. I'm no expert on image licensing though so these may not be any use.

I was watching Rumble vids on youtube and I remember back when the WWE used to do live lottery drawings throughout the pre-Rumble Raw or Superstars or whatever.. when between matches the wrestlers would stand in the back and a little lottery thingy would twirl and they would pull out a ball and open the ball and read their number -- and they wouldn't say it out loud but you were supposed to gauge there reactions and tell if they got a really good number or a really bad number. And Million Dollar man would start chasing down the happiest-looking wrestlers and start making offers.

Was this awesomeness just a one-year thing?

They seem to alternate that periodically. Sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. One of the best moments was Rey saying that Eddie would guide him and give him a good number ... and Rey wound up going first

Second, which is totally different. Reason I say this, is that some stupid people think winning from #1 is different from winning from #2.

You know what I love? Huge crossover Stable vs. Stable storylines. They should do one of those. Like have Legacy/Regal's Group/Jerishow decide to ally together and run things their way. They are opposed by Cena/DX/Christian and his gang/MarkVP/etc. Have each side try to recruit the big free agents like the Brothers of Destruction or Punk. Have the Raw hosts change sides. Like the old Nation/DX/Corporation days. Let it burn for a while then blow it off by having Bragging Rights again.

Is this bollocks as I suspect it may be? Does anyone have knowledge of any wrestlers before Bret doing this on a regular basis?
