Last night, at a family gathering, my Father in-law went on his normally scheduled whine-fest about Obama's plot to destroy America and strip him of his wealth for the benefit of "lazy blacks". I normally just let him run, but when he specifically began quoting poo poo I had seen in bogus chain emails, I decided to call him out on it. My words were "Wait a minute, did you by chance see that in one of those chain emails? You know those are total bullshit right?". He replied "I took you off my list didn't I? Don't worry about it, I deleted you from my e-mail list! I said "Thank you for taking me off your list, but I'm just saying your whole argument is nonsense and you're completely discrediting yourself by quoting those. Half those emails are written by liberals just to see how much they can gently caress with you [probably not true, but strategically this might work with him]." He actually got out of his seat, stormed out of the room with his last words being "WELL YOU'RE JUST A LIBERAL SOCIALIST!"

edit: For some added info, I've never personally discussed my own political views with him. The very fact I was calling him out on bullshit was enough to label me a "Liberal Socialist!"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline
University School of Law,
St. Paul, Minnesota,
points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

* Number of States won by:
* Democrats: 19
* Republicans: 29

* Square miles of land won by:
* Democrats: 80,000
* Republicans: 2,427,000

o Population of counties won by:
o Democrats: 127 million
o Republicans: 143 million

o Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
o Democrats: 13.2
o Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds:
"In aggregate,
the map of the territory Republicans won,
was mostly the land owned by
the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens
living in government-owned tenements
and living off various forms of
government welfare..."

Olson believes
the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of
Professor Tyler's definition of democracy,
with some forty percent of the nation's population
already having reached the
"governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship
to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals
and they vote,
then we can say goodbye to the USA
in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this,
then by all means,
delete this message.

If you are not,
then pass this along to help everyone realize
just how much is at stake,
knowing that

apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.
---

Basically what I get from this is that the Republicans won more land area than the Democrats, so clearly they should have won. However, they didn't, so we're all becoming dependent on welfare. If we let the illegals vote, America will be gone in five years.

Impeccable logic.

This was debunked earlier. The guy who is attributed as the author did NOT write this.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/president/

You should point out that the "facts" in the email aren't even right, he can count states at the link above, the Democrats actually won more states this time.

Not only is the thing basically made up out of whole cloth, but it was actually made up out of whole cloth in 2000 and then recycled in 2004 and 2008 without even changing the "facts" to reflect 2008 reality, and then a fake stamp of authenticity was attached to it by attaching a professor's name to it who had nothing to do with it.

This is so easily debunked just on the "number of states" alone (it seems to come from 2004) that you should strongly consider replying all with the snopes link and just pointing out one or two of the obvious mistakes (fake attribution, number of states).

The snopes link on this one (above) is definitely taking a quick minute to read.

It's bad enough that people send these lies around, but it's beyond insulting for them to be easily debunked in 2 seconds flat, and that they hide behind some professor and university who have nothing to do with it, that's despicable.

Oh, and, land doesn't vote.

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in "excellent health":

Without verifying that any of the numbers are accurate (which I doubt), one can still refute this argument with reason. The simple answer is that 40-50 million people are excluded from our system. This includes mostly the poor, which often happen to be the most sick. This drives up the outcome numbers because the people receiving healthcare are often wealthier and in better health.

Also, insurance companies will only pay for treatment that has a fairly high likelihood of working. People who receive late diagnoses of diseases like cancer often have a much lower incidence of treatment effectiveness, which allows insurance companies to deny them treatment for this very reason (also the reason why it insurance companies are reluctant to cover screenings and preventative treatment in some cases, since late diagnoses of advanced disease can allow them to refuse treatment altogether). Meanwhile, countries with universal healthcare try to treat everyone, even patients that don't have much hope for treatment. As a result, outcomes go down.

Me: Nope, both the right and the left hate it that means it's centrist and that means it's good. :downs:

Uncle Al: On the issue of abortion, that's pretty much the case.

Me: How do you figure?

Uncle Al: Abortion is not a policy issue. It's not like anyone will oppose this because it's good or bad in some "good for the country" measurement, it's solely an issue of "does this favor the pro-choice or pro-life agenda more". If both sides are somewhat unhappy, it's probably a decent compromise, because neither side like compromises.

Yes, liberals will not be happy until abortions are MANDATORY. There's no choice for the women involved, plus, with abortion being completely covered by the government, how could she not take up the offer? Free abortion? How could she say no? Delusional Father posted:

Obama Orders 1 Million US Troops To “Prepare For Civil War”

American Resistance Radio

Russian Military Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin that US President Barack Obama has issued orders to his Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) top leader, US Air Force General Gene Renuart, to “begin immediately” increasing his military forces to 1 million troops by January 30, 2010, in what these reports warn is an expected outbreak of civil war within the United States before the end of winter.

According to these reports, Obama has had over these past weeks “numerous” meetings with his war council about how best to manage the expected implosion of his Nations banking system while at the same time attempting to keep the United States military hegemony over the World in what Russian Military Analysts state is a “last ditch gambit” whose success is “far from certain”.

And to Obama’s “last ditch gambit”, these reports continue, he is to announce in a nationwide address to his people this coming week that he is going to expand the level of US Military Forces in Afghanistan by tens of thousands of troops, while at the same time using the deployment of these soldiers as a “cover” for returning to the United States over 200,000 additional American soldiers from the over 800 bases in over 39 countries they have stationed around the Globe bringing the level of these forces in America to over 1 million, a number the US Military believes will be able to contain the “explosion of violence” expected to roil these peoples when they learn their economy has been bankrupted.

These reports further state that at the same time Obama will be attempting to keep his Nation from violent disintegration, the tens of thousands of additional troops he will send to Afghanistan are to be ordered to Kandahar where the Americans and their NATO allies will begin their final attempt to secure their TAPI (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India) pipeline, which without the Western Nations, due to their grave lack of alternative energy resources, and being cut off from these vast Central Asian supplies (which both Russia and China are seeking to insure), are warned will totally collapse.

Making the American’s (and by extension the West’s) situation even worse are new reports coming from the International Energy Agency stating that “under pressure” from the US government they have been “deliberately underplaying” a looming Global oil shortage for fear of triggering panic buying and raising the Americans fear over the end of oil supremacy because it would threaten their power over access to our World’s last remaining oil resources.

To the scariest “end game” maneuvers being made by Obama, in his attempt to protect Americas Global hegemony, is his record shattering move in plunging the United States $3.5 Trillion further into debt, and which raises the total amount owed by the United States, to its citizens and the World, to the unprecedented height of over $106 Trillion.

So alarming has Obama’s actions become (especially since they are being imitated by all of the Western powers) that the managing-director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, warned this past week that the “stimulus actions” of the West (which in essence is nothing more than the printing of money with nothing to back it up) has now become a “threat to democracy” as millions of people are expected to erupt in violence against their governments over the theft of their money and their futures.

Most unfortunately for the American people though is that this IMF warning fell on “deaf ears” in the United States with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President, James Bullard, saying this week that the US would continue its “stimulus actions” because they “would give more flexibility to US policymakers”, a most absurd statement especially when viewed in the light of the unprecedented debt payments currently looming over the American economy they have no ability whatsoever to pay.

To the ability of the West’s banking giants to save their Nation’s economies, even worse news came this week with the US ratings giant Standards & Poors issuing a warning that “every single bank in Japan, the US, Germany, Spain, and Italy included in S&P’s list of 45 Global lenders remain unsafe”, a warning which then lead to one of Europe’s largest banks, Société Générale, warning its clients to prepare for a “total Global Economic Collapse”.

To the fears of Obama over the United States erupting into civil war once the full extent of the rape and pillaging of these peoples by their banks and government becomes known to them, grim evidence now shows the likelihood of this occurring much sooner than later, especially in new poll figures showing that Obama’s approval rating among white Americans has now fallen to 39%. A number made more significant when one realizes that the white population of the United States comprises 74% of their estimated 398 million citizens, or put more ominously in these reports as “over 220 million American people armed to the teeth and ready to explode”.

And so fearful has the white population of the United States become that upon the election of Obama to the Presidency he was named as the “Gun Salesman of the Year” by the Outdoor Wire, the US’s largest daily electronic news service for the outdoor industry, who report “panic buying” of weapons and ammunition by those fearful of the destruction of their country at the hands of man they believe is not even an American citizen and had been foisted upon them by their elite classes seeking to enslave them.

Though the coming civil war in the United States is being virtually ignored by their propaganda media, the same cannot be said of Russia, where leading Russian political analyst, Professor Igor Panarin has long warned that the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the US is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts.

Professor Igor Panarin further stated in his warning that “the US Dollar is not secured by anything. The country’s foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse.”

What remains to be seen, and these reports do not speculate upon, is if the citizen-soldiers of the United States will fire upon and kill their fellow countrymen during the coming conflict, but if history is to be our guide clearly shows this will be the case as the once great American Nation continues its headlong plunge into the abyss of history. May God have mercy upon all of them.

Haha, that reads like the intro to some crazy rear end Tom Clancy novel.

I would play the gently caress out of that if it was a Rainbow Six game.

they're starting with CA because the gun laws make it the easiest state to control.

I am not sure this makes sense. California has quite a lot of people compared to other states. Wouldn't it then follow that California has more gun owners than other states? There is the physical size of California compared to other states, too.

Obama is ruining christmas :colbert:

This should be no surprise, we should all know by now what our current administration is all about and what to expect, but it is still mind boggling for some reason. These people obviously don't value the same things Americans as a whole value.

Why let a holiday season come between the White House and making some political statements? The White House pegged controversial designer Simon Doonan to oversee the Christmas decorations for the White House. Mr. Doonan, who is creative director of Barney’s New York has often caused a stir with his design choices. Like his naughty yuletide window display of Margaret Thatcher as a dowdy dominatrix and Dan Quayle as a ventriloquist’s dummy. For this year’s White House, he didn’t disappoint.

These photos of ornaments on the White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room were taken just days ago. Of course, Mao has his place in the White House.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an ornament of legendary transvestite Hedda Lettuce.

He/She even signed it:

And, so soon after collecting the Nobel Peace Prize, why wouldn’t the White House have an ornament super-imposing President Obama onto Mt. Rushmore:

All around, a very Barry Christmas!

And our government obviously still supporting ACORN with ...cookies?

Yes, it is real. Oh, and let's not forget the serving of Acorn cookies of course. What a stand up organization that needs celebration and recognition from the white house for their great work.....helping promote prostitution and tax evasion, that is..

Any fan of Cookie Monster on Sesame Street knows that “C” is for cookie.
But at the Obama White House, “A” may be for acorn — as in acorn cookies served at Monday’s annual Christmas party.
The chocolate cookies shaped like an acorn were quite a hit with Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.
“I didn’t expect to see such stark symbolism,” King said in an e-mail.
President Obama worked with the community organizing group ACORN in the mid-90s. But now ACORN faces a host of allegations related to voter fraud in the 2008 election and has been weakened by an undercover expose that shows employees offering tax advice to a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute.
The irony of the White House dishing out acorn-shaped chocolate cookies seemed a little, well, “nutty” to King. The Iowa Republican is one of the loudest voices calling for Congress to investigate ACORN.

If they had any real imagination they'd see that cookie is clearly a brown face adorning a beret, not an acorn.
