It's a disappointment the matches were so short. Some of them sound like a lot of fun and it's a good idea in concept. In concept. Bret vs. Saturn and Kidman are interesting matchups. I want to see Scott Hall vs. Lash LeRoux badly. Hennig/Jarrett must have been a fun match, even if quick. I would like to see the WWE or even TNA do a monster sized tournament. No 8 Man Tournament. A big huge one where it engulfs the show into nothing but Tournament matches. We all love Beat the Clock, so I think this would be good in giving us an excuse to watch good wrestling matches.

I also double Hennig/Jarrett was that good since Hennig gave zero poo poo throughout his WCW career and especially after the Flair feud ended. Miller vs Leroux? Ugh. Hall vs Sid? Yikes. Sting vs Knobs? Buff Bagwell vs STEVIE RAY? Holy poo poo, I need to see that match. I have no memory of it, it must have been something else. There's a handful of interesting matches, and just a huge helping of horrible.

Boom. 16 Man Tournament. WWE SD! Tournament: Batista, Charlie Haas, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Eric Escobar, Finlay, Jimmy Wang Yang, Kane, Luke Gallows, Matt Hardy, Mike Knox, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, Great Khali and John Morrison. Again, 16 Man Tournament. TNA Tournament: Abyss, D'Angelo DeNiro, Daniels, Desmond Wolfe, Dr. Stevie, Hernandez, Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Matt Morgan, Mick Foley, Raven, Rhino, Samoa Joe, Scott Steiner, Tomko and Sean Morely. Even this would be a drat good tournament. Is there anyone who wouldn't want to see a Raw, Smackdown! or Impact consisting of eight matches, all tournament matches? Even if it ended up being Big Show vs. Chris Masters, Luke Gallows vs. Great Khali or Mick Foley vs. Raven in one of them?

I just thought of something I've never seen and have only read about. Basically, WCW called up a guy from the Power Plant that they were allegedly very high on. They put him in a match with DDP. During this match, the new guy climbed to the top rope, leading to DDP running into the ropes as a normal set up for the 'crotch yourself on the turnbuckle' thing. Instead of doing it, said new guy screamed at the top of his lungs and hurled himself into the ring. The new guy was never heard from again. I think he may have worn a mask, but I can't Google anything up.

At the urging of my dear friend NAME OF FRIEND, I have opted to enter this thread to post my favorite WCW what-in-the-world-is-happening moment of all. Lex Luger ... is becoming ... ... the Total Package. http://www.ddtdigest.com/updates/1999094m.htm Ever since I first saw this moment, I have been referring to it as possibly the most completely meaningless wrestling moment I can think of in WCW history. As you can sort of tell from the above recap, at some point during this show, there was a funeral held for Lex Luger. Toward the end of the show, Lex Luger came out, with dramatic spot-lighting and an elegant robe, and started to do muscle poses in the center of the ring while the announcers explained that he was "becoming the Total Package before our very eyes," or something very close to that. It was probably years afterward before I started laughing out loud every time I thought of it. There is a very good chance that it was not quite as hilarious as I recall, but I would give anything to see that dramatic pose-down again.

CVagts posted:Oh my god this may have been the most hilarious thing to happen in WCW, and that's saying something. The story behind this angle is quite amusing. This was during the peroid between Eric Bischoff being shitcanned and Vince Russo being hired. During this time the poor guys who were writing the show were being forced to maintain the status quo by the top brass. Everyone knew there would be a new appointment being made as a long term head writer/booker but at this point no one knew Russo was in the frame. There was a booking meeting where the writers were told that they had to maintain the status quo, BUT they also had to deliver surprises. This angle was their response. A surprise that changed nothing.
