Rampant Mega Man 10 speculation! After the boss re-fights but before the final encounter, Wily whips up a bonus penultimate battle, from some spare parts that were lying around. Looking forward to March. In the meantime I've been playing through Mega Man 9 trying to clear some of the challenges. Anyone know a good stage to beat the Bunny Hop challenge (Clear any stage jumping 50 times or less)?

Ryvannis posted:Why does it feel like each Megaman series is incomplete? We never get the jist of the stories. They never even expanded on Zero's survival at the end of Zero (probably dead)and skipped right over to ZX. I disliked ZX and ZXA because there were no concrete connections to any of the previous games in terms of the characters, and no the biometals don't count. Well... yes, except for the classic series. The classic series could end right now and it would feel "complete", but I really don't want it to because I love the games so much. Legends is literally incomplete as Legends 2 ended on a cliffhanger for a sequel that never got made. The X series... well, purposely left out details in the beginning and gradually gave hints to the backstory as it went along. Like, in X2, Sigma hinted Zero was made by Dr. Wily, then in X3 and X4 it says X must destroy Zero, and in X4, it more or less outright states that Zero was made by Wily and was the originator of the Maverick virus. Then X5 came out and my younger self got the biggest case of blue balls ever. The battle between X and Zero was less then epic (he should have been the last boss). Then in X6, Zero comes back like nothing happened, and they totally ignore pretty much everything the first few games were leading up to. I grew up getting each Mega Man X game when they came out and really, really loved Mega Man as a kid. Since I was a little tyke, and still now, he's my favorite video game character. For me, the direction the X series went in was one of the biggest disappointments in my life next to the Star Wars Prequels. I know, I know, that's a goony rear end thing to say, in fact the gooniest thing I have ever said, but luckily X5 and Star Wars are the biggest disappointments I've had and not something serious. I might take that back if my future son winds up as a total waste of sperm but for now my life hasn't been that horrible.

Continuing the Mega Man X debate... I also thought X1 was the best in the series. In fact, I even like the original better than Maverick Hunter X. I think that's because Maverick Hunter X moved around all the capsules. Even though I know it's unfair to expect a feature in a game for no reason, I was also a little disappointed that Zero wasn't playable even though Vile was. I think having access to Zero and his Saber and his style of play would have cast another new perspective on that game. With X2 and X3, I'm always kind of conflicted. X2 was a great game, but there's something it was missing that X1 had that I can't pin down. I did think X1 was the best game in the series regarding collectibles. With the other games in the series (especially X3 and X5 to X7), I kind of felt lost with all the poo poo there was to find; I felt powerless without any of it and also felt frustrated trying to find any of it. I was pissed at X3 for making Toxic Seahorse's stage unbeatable without the dash upgrade, which if you're playing cold requires a shot in the dark in another stage to find. I also thought making the Ride Armors such that you have to find the modules first was a bad idea. I actually didn't think X7 was all that bad. It wasn't a huge amount of fun, but I thought it was an interesting game and I did really like the graphics. With that said, the game still frustrated me. I don't know how to explain it, but the X series, to me, was most frustrating in that in the crappier games in the series (X5 to X7) I didn't ever feel like I was playing the game "right." Even X8 gave me that feeling a lot of the time, even though it was an improvement over X7. xezton posted:This should be done for all Mega Mans.

Oh, man - I dug out my MML disc and managed to get it working again, and I'm really having a blast. I expected myself to find the game a bit lamer than I remembered (since it came out like eleven years ago and I played it religiously as a kid) but it still holds up pretty well. The dungeons aren't nearly as big or foreboding as I remember them (although I'm pretty sure I remember MML2 changing this in a big way) and some of the dialogue is just ridiculous ("I get this funny feeling whenever I think of him.....oh, who cares what this feeling is?! He's toast!!") but I'm really enjoying it. I'm also picking up on a lot of little touches as I go through that I missed as a kid - the reason there's no normal ruins in the city, for example, is because Kattelox has walled them off and is using them as a sewer system. There was clearly a lot of thought put into the universe and its backstory, and it's really disappointing we're probably never going to see MML3.

Well, at least Mega Man Vollnut as put into Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, so he's not forgotten. Speaking of which, I was at a used book/music/game store yesterday, and they had a copy of The Misadventures of Tronne Bonne for $85. Is the game really that rare? Is it a good game?

Is it a good game? Rare, very yes. Worth that price? Hahaha hell no. I've still got a copy I ordered from Capcom's online shop way back in the day and while it is indeed a fun little game, it's not nearly worth that steep a price. If you expect it to be anything like Megaman Legends you'd be sorely disappointed; it's mostly a collection of variety minigames. There's only one MML-ish gametype where you pilot the Gustaff and basically rape and pillage a small little town. You'll have played through those missions (missions you don't get to repeat after completing them, sadly) really quickly if you don't save them for later. Other than that there's like a box-moving puzzle, a pretty merciless casino, and a couple of other gametypes I probably don't remember. (Oh yeah Servbot S&M ) You navigate dating sim-esque menus as though you were going to different areas of the Gesellschaft to get from game to game and manage servbots, money, saving, all that mess. If you really, really, really like Tron it might be worth $85. Personally I'm glad I got it for $30 back when Capcom's online shop was trying to get rid of it. Going back to aforementioned Servbot S&M , just watch this to get a good idea as to what you're missing out on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7teiYWFsNU #18 wasn't cured of his laziness!! Hey guys, The Megas just released an acoustic version of their "Get Equipped" CD. I just listened to it, and I'm pretty drat impressed. I know some people didn't like the singer's voice, but as much as I didn't find anything bad about it, it's obvious he has improved. Either way, if you liked the original album in the slightest, this is definitely something worth checking out.
