Has the WWE ever tried to release DVDs of raw by season? you know, 96-97 season 1a. for like 80 bucks. Because I would buy every attitude era Raw.

You can do that now on DVD trading sites all over the internet. I'd never buy a season set from WWE until they figure out a way to keep all of the original music, stop censoring their product, stop taking out Benoit, and stop blurring their logo. Are they still editing blood out on old shows and beeping out swear words? If so, An anthology of ECW PPVs produced by WWE sounds like an abomination.

They just recently stopped editing Benoit out of matches and documentaries(as of 2008 I think) and they now only censor the Attitude logo, the other, older WWF logos remain uncensored.

I had no idea they edited blood out though, on what sets? I have the HiaC set and ECW's most violent matches DVD and they're both pretty graphic and uncut.

Alright, here's a nagging question I've had for a while related to all of this: The lawsuit between the WWE and the WWF for use of the name "WWF"... why/how did Vince not win it?

Part of the agreement between Vince and the World Wildlife Fund was that European marketing would use the full World Wrestling Federation name instead of just the WWF. When the Attitude Era hit and Vince started using WWF a lot more (especially with wwf.com), the World Wildlife Fund hit them with a lawsuit as it violated the agreement.

No, it was that they agreed that wrestling could keep the old block style WWF logo and couldn't change it. They changed it to the scratch logo and lost the lawsuit over the use of WWF, but only outside of the US. They changed the company's name to make everything easier.

I've heard that they were turning all shots of blood black and white for the 24/7 channel. I don't know if they done it yet with any DVD releases.

I especially remember reading that they did it to the Austin/Rock match from Wrestlemania X7 because that sounded particularly awful.

Contractual obligations. Now when it happens, Raw just moves to Sci-Fi for the night. And Raw isn't the longest running weekly episodic show. That's just a lie they tell themselves and advertisers.

Yeah but the descriptor is "longest running" not "most original content".

This is changing, because Rock / Austin at X7 is the #1 match of the decade on this month's 10 Count segment on 24/7, and it's shown in all its crimson glory. (In contrast to a year or so ago, when X7 itself was on 24/7, when every other shot was in B&W.)

Episodes are on weekly whether they are repeats or not, the descriptor doesn't say,"Longest running year round weekly new episodic television show," because by that point they might as well start calling it,"Longest running year round weekly new episodic television show called Raw that features numerous professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines in which wrestlers portray a villain or a hero as they follow a series of events that build tension, and culminate into a wrestling match or series of matches."

SNL isn't episodic because there is no continuity between shows. I believe WWE is using this definition of episode:

"one of a number of loosely connected, but usually thematically related, scenes or stories constituting a literary work."

Pretty sure they just go with "episodic" to mean "plotlines continuing from week to week," thus putting it in a category separate from, say, Meet The Press or Dateline or The Tonight Show.

Also, gently caress, beaten.

WCW Saturday Night is hard to count since it changed forms so many times and changed names. But even now there are shows that have been on the air longer than Raw in Law and Order and the Simpsons, and wrestling shows the world over that were on longer, AJPW on NTV, Wrestling at the Chase, etc.

I think they disregard things like The Simpsons and Law & Order, as those only run between 22 - 24 episodes per year. It doesn't make the Did You Know crap any less disingenuous, however.
