I'm pretty sure it happened in Eurupe, looks like on some smaller town roads. The guys were passing cars while doing wheelies and just generally being EXTREMELY reckless. Pretty popular video, hopefully my vague description helps. Was it this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j1qXWTdZQI&feature=youtube_gdata

Coredump posted:The north Georgia mountains are where I like to ride a lot. Last thing I want is some news channel trying to stir up some out cry that doesn't really exist to make a story. Yes there are sport bikers that speed like crazy up there. Heck, they're usually passing me because I'm so slow. But 13 deaths since 2005 and the video was posted in 2008? 4 deaths a year? More people die on bicycles in metro Atlanta than that. That video is stupidly exaggerated, obviously. I kind of just laughed at it. Yeah there are fast bikes blasting up 19/60, but you're going to find people riding like they're on the track anywhere. Those riders are usually the more experienced ones who can handle a bad situation anyways. The majority of riders up here are actually pretty reasonable. If they want to do a report on something they should head up to Deal's Gap where DY crossing is actually prevalent and dangerous. People actually die up there; not so much in north GA. 19 is probably the most popular road in north GA and for a majority of the ride going up there are two lanes on the right side. There's not much DY crossing, and when it does happen there are enough straightaways that you can wait for one to make a safe pass.

That had to hurt like a mother. Anyone who's kicked a road cone at only 15 mph knows how much speed adds up.

They can actually see all the way through the straight there, so it's not like a car is going to pop out and cream them. Still stupid to be pulling wheelies across a DY, but I'd take that over DY passing in the middle of a corner, which is my #1 concern when I'm out on well traveled twisties.

Dunno about you but I'd be worried about the theft risk if someone browses through street view and finds a bike that's obviously stored outdoors all the time. I complained to google and got the street view images of my bike pulled, one of my neighbours did the same.

I thought about that and I suppose there's loads more bikes parked around the city without a cover and that also aren't in the middle of the city. There's a bigger risk of random passer-bys stealing it, even bigger risk with the many drunk idiots that pass it on the weekend for being dicks to it. I thought about a motion alarm and my bedroom is right above it so it should take me about 10 seconds to open the window and throw a fire extinguisher at them. The alarm might be cause more annoyance than good, but might be worth it too.

I have a motion sensitive disk lock that does nothing but add a half kilo of metal over the rear tire in my trunk. I stopped using it after it developed sentience and shortly thereafter an abandonment complex and started going off by itself once I'd walked more than 50 feet away.
