Doctor Claw posted:If anyone has anyone Halloween 2 (remake) questions they want to throw at me, go for it. I don't want to pin myself down but I would say I'm VERY close to KEY people involved in that film and after seeing all the confusion and criticism, I'd like to set the record straight. I don't have any specific questions about the film at the moment, but any other things that you find interesting would be well worth sharing. I thought the film was a nice attempt at branching off from the series, and I always find Rob Zombie films worth watching and investigating. He may not always be successful in what he's trying to achieve, but you can definitely tell he's evolving as a storyteller and artist.

I just heard about Scream 4 today and wanted to come post about it, but after skimming this thread I see that slasherfan knew about it already. I'm kind of excited to see what they do with the series now. Also, I feel at home in this thread, seeing the references to Friday the 13th and how much people like it.

I rented Feast and it was actually pretty decent for a B-movie. Plays with audience expectations a lot.

Oh, the other reason I made my post. I finally got around to seeing the remake of The Last House on the Left. Besides me sitting throughout the movie trying to figure out where I had seen all of the actors and actresses in the movie, I really enjoyed it. It was so awesome that after the kitchen scene, the girl I saw it with, who doesn't like horror movies too much, even said "Sweet."

I quite liked it myself, although the 10 minute long rape scene was a bit off putting. I prefer just straight gore in my horror movies, thanks.

Super late on this, but I just got Netflix and streamed Let the Right One In and it is probably the best vampire movie I have seen. I also remembered a local news story about a movie made here in Ohio called Thankskilling and saw that was available for streaming and watched it. It's about a killer turkey (really bad hand puppet) that was summoned by ancient indians to kill white people after the first thanksgiving. The whole thing was made for $3500, but I thought it was actually pretty funny if you like horror movies that are trying to be bad horror movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOjSRoxc6mg

If you're into the Troma team films, you'll love this one. Its now in my official films to watch during the holiday season now.

I watched parts of the second one but never really got into it, I should try it again. They made three of the Feast movies, didn't they?

Feast: Sloppy Seconds and then Feast: Happy Endings (or at least I think that was the name of the third one) I think Sloppy Seconds is the best name for a gory horror movie sequel.

Feast 2 is entertaining as long as you're in a Troma state of mind. Feast 3 is the worst of the three and has several scenes where thanks to the lighting you'll have no loving idea what's going on, but it also has some amusing scenes/characters and the ending is stupid enough to be funny.

What ever happened with the sequel to The Descent. I heard that it came out in the UK and was scheduled to come out in the U.S. sometime in December. I'm assuming that it's going straight to DVD and will be released here eventually, but does anyone know of anything more concrete than this?

Out jumps an unseen person, kills the monsters and strikes a ridiculous action movie pose. Camera pans up to reveal... Juno. No, I'm not kidding. And the ending makes no sense at all. Anyone seen all the drama surrounding Saw 7 and Paranormal Activity 2? http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/18845 Looks like Lionsgate are not to happy about the Saw VI director doing Paranormal Activity 2 so they are pulling out an option they had on Saw VI to force him to direct 7. I feel this is a really lovely thing to do on Liongates part, they already had a director for Saw 7 now they seem to only be doing this to try stop Paranormal Activity 2. EDIT, this articly is a little more in depth http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/have-you-heard-about-the-saw-vii-vs-paranormal-activity-2-mess Slasherfan fucked around with this message at 14:23 on Jan 27, 2010 |

What is the current king of horror movie web sites? I used to love Bloody Disgusting, but ever since they changed their layout a year or two ago, I haven't liked it as much. I thought I found something great when I came across SlashFilm, but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be edit--- I gave BD another chance; it's not so bad. Saw a pre-screening for Piranha 3D and I can't heap enough praise upon this ridiculous movie. It has amazing deaths, great throw backs to the use of practical effects, and gratuitous 3D nudity. Can't wait to pay for it. In contrast, saw a movie called Husk. Ugh. What garbage. It's a movie about killer scarecrows that was so poorly done I felt embarrassed watching it. Worse yet were the self congratulatory producers patting each other on the backs when it was over. They were so determined that the scarecrow they designed was going to be an icon, with kids wearing it for Halloween. "The next Scream mask" they said. Ew. And out of curiosity, anyone know what the alternate ending to The Mist was? Was it the same as the book?

My vote goes to Horror Squad because it has a real nice layout, it's well written, and most importantly the head writer is Scott Weinberg who I think is the best critic out there right now (who also happens to love horror).

I will see it just because it just for this.

In the horror rags (either Fangoria or Rue Morgue, I forget which exactly) Special Effects King Rick Baker has come out and said the movie sucks rear end. Its the first time he's come out pre-release of a movie he's worked on and trashed it. Take that for what it's worth.

Which is odd since the people who have seen the film have been quite positive towards it. Not that it's amazing, just that it's a lot of fun and certainly didn't deserve the February dumping it got. Maybe Baker is pissed because they discarded the practical effects he worked on?

I've read a review saying that it was a great "gothic horror" style movie, and I've read a review saying that it was a terribly predictable movie full of badly-placed jump scares. I still want to see it, since I'm practically gay for Benicio del Toro.

I just got back from seeing it so my thoughts are over in that thread. Baker's work is largely there, the only time CGI seems to be used are as transitions between his practical make up. It's not like they replaced everything he did with computers.

Ok so I kinda liked 'Cabin Fever 2'. If you want to see a fat kid's cock graphically leak with puss and blood then this is totally the film for you! However it has a weird tacked on coda that seems to run for 10 minutes after the main film has ended. It's like they couldn't find anywhere for this subplot with a minor character to go so they just threw it on at the end rather than leave it on the cutting room floor.
