My band recently got its EP back from mastering, and we've made the whole thing available for download on 320kb mp3s: Calculating Collapse - Fractal Sight of Consequence EP I hope you guys dig it; we'll be touring again later this year.

The production is perfect. I really dig the sound of your bass drum. As for the songs themselves, you guys are pretty drat good. Without being overly original, you really manage to have your own sound. I like the fact that you don't have any over-announced breakdowns. The only downpoint that I see is the fact that the first song of your EP starts with the only riff I dislike. It just seems that the second part of the lead never comes in at the same point, it pisses me off. Where are you guys from? I could get you some gigs in Quebec

Yeah on The Oncoming Storm most noticeably, def one of my most listened to metalcore albums. He seems to come and go from a few other bands too, I can't remember exactly who. It hasn't been specified whether Brad left or they brought in Mike to usurp him. I really like the drums parts on the 'teeth machine' so it's kinda puzzling why they'd part on such a high point... or maybe that's why. anywho, going to listen to 'The Great Dividers' right now

Southern Ontario was the furthest east we made it on the last tour, so shows in Quebec would definitely be cool.

Desolation of Eden (new Chelsea) is not as good as the EP. The EP has a raw feel to it, the album just feels over produced. I'm sure the songs would sound crazy live but on album it sounds a little dry. What you should all really excited about is The Acacia Strain's live DVD that came out yesterday: The Most Known Unknown. I preorded it from Amazon and it came yesterday. So good.

SA: As someone who coined the term "Nintendocore," please rate "crabcore" solely as a genre name. HTB: We recently grew as people and play Crabgaze now. Nintendocore is done. It's garbage. Crabgaze. It's a little more shoe-gazy than traditional crabcore. It's pretty good. Crabgaze. Hahaha. Interview runs tomorrow, it's pretty great. The majority of it is the band being really drunk and obnoxious but it's pretty funny

I'm sure the songs would sound crazy live but on album it sounds a little dry. Sadly you turned out to be right about this. They really went for the "smaller" sound (although still heavy), i.e. very little reverb or whatever making it sound too "clean". Too bad about the vocals too. They sound fine but the inhaled pig-vocals are gone and that was something that had sounded really good for them. If I hadn't heard the EP this album would be fine, but hearing the re-recorded and relatively toothless (compared to the original) new version of "Cheyne-Stokes" made me a little sad. Still some good songs but I won't be listening to it as much as I had anticipated. quote:What you should all really excited about is The Acacia Strain's live DVD that came out yesterday: The Most Known Unknown. I preorded it from Amazon and it came yesterday. So good. I'm not TOO excited since I tend to buy concert DVDs and not get around to watching them, but this is still good news since they are practically my favorite band and they're awesome live.

I've seen both of these bands live a couple times and they're always awesome. They're both so heavy it's ridiculous. Suffokate's "The Skies Were Filled With Fire" and Carnifex's "Slit Wrist Savior" and "Lie To My Face" are three of the most brutal songs I've ever heard in my life. When we used to gently caress around at practice, I liked to do the tremolo picking to the end of TSWFWF.

I recently "discovered" two bands that I think are pretty good, and I figured I'd share 'em with this thread (although you guys have probably heard of them already). Broadcast the Nightmare is one, and I like their instrumentation, but the vocals are kinda meh. Also, I like Within the Ruins as well. Tractor Pull owns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fhOiFhO744

I actually was going to see the KSE tour but backed out of buying tickets when I heard Howard wasn't doing it. I like ATR and I like Phil but Howard is 90% of my enjoyment of KSE's music. His stage presence is profound. I've seen ATR live a good 7-9 times by now, and ever since "Overcome" came out, Phil seems more interested in fondling his nipple piercings in the direction of teenage girls in the pit than in performing.
