I remember the F1 car started a minute after the others or something then beat the 911 on the last straight. Edit: missed the last page. Beaten by a long way.

You guys just think I like automatics, but bracket racers take that poo poo to the extreme. Bracket racers are all about consistency to the point of ridiculousness. We're talking about running the same times, every time, to the hundredth of a second. Using a clutch and manually shifting the gears is obviously right out if you want to be consistent. An automatic valve body on a regular automatic transmission does an OK job of shifting at the right time, but it leaves a bit on the table. A full manual valve body will shift exactly when you tell it to shift; no delays from trying to find the gear or pushing in a clutch or waiting for the fluid to move and actuate the shift. The main drawback of a manual valve body is that you still have to watch your RPMs and hope you shift at the right time, every time. So what's the enterprising bracket racer to do? You add an RPM based shift controller to actuate an air shifter to shift your fully manual automatic for you. The shifter: The controller: The air tank: Video of it in action: http://www.streetfire.net/video/03-Mach-1-SCS-Cheetah-Shifter_156353.htm

Many moons ago i drove a friends air shifted thunderbird. He trusted me since the tranny was dieing and i couldn't gently caress anything up. My only instruction was hold it to the floor and don't let up until the end of the track. I put my arm on the tunnel out of habit and got hosed, seriously, air shifting into your funny bone is not actually funny.
