Peanutbutter, he's a hedgehog (he has often been mistaken for a Popple). He's pretty awesome, and totally illegal in California (where I live). Click here for the full 604x453 image. Click here for the full 604x453 image. EDIT: Benson is almost 2 years old and Peanutbutter is just under a year and a half. Hedgehogs run about 5 miles a night (they have their own wheels to run on, like hamsters but much larger). They are nocturnal. Peanutbutter sits on my lap wrapped in a blanket most days while I work, half asleep/half begging for freeze dried crickets (his favorite treat, but too high in fat to give them to him every day). The biggest killer of domestic hedgehogs is obesity, so we are very careful about what they ingest, though Benson LOVES beer because it's foamy. Benson hates me with a passion (he loves my fiance) and often tries to bite me (as Peanut often tries to bite my fiance. They have picked their sides). When their quills are down it feels like petting straw, almost plastic-y. When their quills are up it's like being stabbed by a cactus, it stings but they don't make you bleed. They make adorable noises when they are angry (and they are angry a lot). They are very territorial and very antisocial. After I clean their cages they often get pissed and immediately poop everywhere and push their things around to different places (i.e. their food dish, tubes, etc). They hate baths, and they REALLY hate anything being cleaned. They like to keep their scent on everything that is theirs. Which is funny, because they REALLY aren't smelly animals at all. They have extremely sensitive noses, we can't use scented detergents or scented cleaning products when cleaning them or their beds up. About nine months ago, I was getting lonely living all by myself. I wanted a dog, but was not home enough to properly train one. So, I decided to get a cat instead (I love both)... Serenity So I went to the shelter and found Serenity, here she is the day I got her  Hiding:  Demanding my attendtion (6 months, maybe?):  Oooh The light, eets so priiiiiiitttttttttttty:  She loves giving KITTEH KEESES! (I think only PI would appreciate this):  Then, I went to pay my trash bill and I saw a sign that said free kittens. I quickly called a good friend and asked her if I should get another one. She said Of course, Serenity needs a friend. She came from a questionable shelter that just let me have her, so she was half wild and it took her several months before she would even let me pet her. Meet Hope The day I got her, poor baby was so scared:  Starting to warm up to me:  Chillen with serenity, finally let me get close to her:  Then my friend got evicted from his apartment and asked me if I'd keep his cat for "only a few weeks, Kitteh, I promise." It's been six months and I still have her (Although said friend just moved into an apartment so should be taking her back "any day now") Here's Max:  All up in your face, mom:  and then I get out of my car one day, and hear a meow..... Meet Freedom!  and she followed me inside and never looked back. (I'm actually trying to find her a home as my apartment is too small for four cats.)  Sup Mom?  Chillin:  So now I have four cats. Serenity and Max coming up with a gameplan for catching the dirt diver:  Apparently my cats are gay too (Serenity and Hope):  And apparently I make a good catbed (Note hope in my lap!):  I'm the resident crazy cat lady:  (From the top: Max, Serenity, Hope, Freedom) Sorry about the lovely pics all I have is my camera phone.

My parents, who never allowed pets when I was growing up, just rescued a kitten from an alley a few blocks from their house. He might have worms (not a diagnosis of anything, just stray cats very often have them) and he's probably not doing too well from not eating. Good for your parents to take him in.

He's already been to the vet. He was dehydrated, had worms, diarrhea, his eye was so infected he could barely open it and he was very under-nourished. He is in the process of getting all that taken care of + getting all his shots.

This is Fiji. He is a mix of I don't know what. If I had to guess I would say maltese and maybe lhasa apso. Full size image This is Sadie our other rescue, I would guess a mix of lab and malamute. Her previous owner must have left her chained in the backyard because she was taken due to her collar being embedded in her neck, bastards. She is in the middle. Cohen is now 5 1/2 months old and is starting to get coordinated enough to contort herself into some pretty amusing shapes in her attempts to catch a ball. She's getting spayed tomorrow so I thought I'd get a few action shots before she's confined to leashed walks and moderate exercise. Play bow!  Every time she tries to catch a ball she'll launch all 4 feet up into the air. She misses most of the time.  Catching a ball in our kitchen.  She recently finished her basic obedience class, and passed with flying colours -- she was awarded as "Top Dog". As silly as it is, I'm pretty proud of her. edit: poo poo, I was looking through old puppy photos, and this one made me laugh. She had grabbed hold of the broom and was trying to take it under the table with her, only to realize a bit too late that it didn't... quite... fit properly. This was when she first arrived -- she was about 9 weeks old.

Pictures of Nigel, he's now a 17 week old Irish Terrier. I'll post more current pictures after we're done training his ears, since glued ears aren't cute and cuddly. Nigel at work the Day I brought him home at 10 weeks  He thought the carts at work were fascinating.  Nigel at approximately 13 weeks, meeting some Langshan cockerals in the barn.  Another picture at approximately 13 weeks, he found a stick he loves on our walk.  And just for good measure, this is a picture of Nigel's sire Cooper courtesy of the breeder, taken after he won his first of many group ones.
