I think generally when a motor goes "runaway" what they mean is it's just going to keep going faster and faster until it explodes. He says in the info normal max rpm for that motor is around 420-450 rpm and it was running at around 600 rpm.

I'm looking for a video that I'm pretty sure was posted in this thread, or one like it. It was some sort of timed road course contest, and the car in it used a prespooled turbo. I think it was using a bodged together turbo jet set-up to do the spooling.
