There is a few movies I own that I liked, but haven't got the Rifftrax for. Are they worth purchasing. They are Alien, Casino Royale, Iron Man, Star Trek, Dark Knight, and Pirates of the Caribean.

I love all of those movies, too. The only Rifftrax not worth a crap out of those is POTC.

And since it's not on your list, I'll add Raiders of the Lost Ark as a decent one.

On a related note, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, however, is a heinously lovely movie with a fantastic riff.

Oh Rifftrax, the things I do to own the movies. I bought the Titanic riff..and I bought the big three disc set for it. Or I got the first Harry Potter, and somehow found the Philosopher Stone version at Half-Price Books (Canadian Region 1). That said, do I have to download the Pal version of Harry Potter, even through it's in NTSC (because Pal is for Philosopher Stone).

I've said it several times, but it's definitely my favorite.

And 2012 practically riffs itself. I'd love to see them do something like Emmerich Month and have Godzilla, 2012, and maybe 10,000 BC or The Patriot.

I still picture Mike, Crow and Servo. It breaks down when they say their names a bit, but I can't usually visualize anything but silhouettes. Whenever I do I sort of imagine them in an office building.

I know, I know, Bill seems like a cool guy and he does the job well, I like him just fine on Rifftrax and on MST. But every now and then the deadbeat dad rocks up unannounced on your birthday and is all "Hey kiddo I got us tickets to the superbowl" and you have a great day and worship him all over again and then you don't hear from him for the next eight months but still you NEVER STOP BELIEVING :saddowns:

Basically I'm saying I just love the Trace/Kevin riffing duo and missed it pretty bad. Why Trace, why...? America's Funniest Home Videos is a humourless trampy whore. :(

e: For more relevant content, I checked out some CT previews and they LOOK awesome and the opening music rocks and the lines are pretty funny, but there seem to be just too many people to relate to properly. And in the live versions they kept shuffling through scripts and stuff, it was distracting.

Did you guys see the blog post sending an invite to the Cinema Titanic guys to come on over and have a beer? I'm glad to see Cinema Titanic taking off in its own right, because that makes me think it might be possible they might do a collaboration or two. I doubt they'll ever really "get the band back together", but I bet we'll see it.

I saw it and posted a while back, asking if it got a response. It was a few years back I think. I didn't get replies so I googled a bit and found an interview with Joel where he addresses that. There is one with Trace too btw.

quote:

Q: Is there any chance for something like a “Cinematic Titanic”/RiffTrax crossover? I know fans are always fantasizing about those kind of things.

A: Yeah, I don’t know. I mean, it’s kind of like I feel the best thing right now is to keep ‘em separate. I feel like we kind of have to create our own identity, and so I’m not really very interested in it. And I think too that it’s kind of like people, I think their fantasies of it are probably better than it probably would be. I think it would mean a lot of work and then you know, I’m not sure it would be as satisfying as people think.

But also conceptually, you know, RiffTrax is just an MP3, it’s just audio, and people approached me many times over the years to do that, and I just didn’t feel it was conceptually sound compared to “Mystery Science Theater” or “Cinematic Titanic.” So I don’t think I’d do a RiffTrax, you know what I mean? It doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Q: You’re more of a visual guy, aren’t you? You were always doing the visuals on the show, like the Invention Exchange?

A: Yeah, exactly, and so to me, it’s like it’s not really there, so I kind of feel like it would be a step backwards for me.

Though I know that I’ve heard ‘em and I think they’re super funny, and I know what they’re doing. It’s kind of like you have to imagine that you’re seeing their silhouettes. You know what I mean? It’s kind of like asking the audience to collaborate and say ‘Just imagine that they’re in theater seats and they’re like moving around even though they’re not.’ And we have a really imaginative fan base, so I know that they will do that, you know.

quote:

By now, everyone knows the story of how Avatar single-handedly changed moviemaking forever. Its visionary director (whose name escapes us, you know the one, he's that guy who didn't win an Oscar this year) proved that progressive films can succeed in today's marketplace. As long as progressive means "completely unoriginal and devoid of depth" and the high praise heaped upon the work is entirely based upon it being nice to look at. In this sense, Megan Fox is a progressive actress, and The Hills was the most important television show of the last 10 years. It is truly a bold, experimental piece of work, keeping in mind that crystal meth and fat substitute Olestra (which brought the phrase "anal leakage" into our lexicon) were also the results of experimentation.

For those of you who haven't seen it (*cricket cricket*), Avatar is the story of just how pretty a jungle planet can look in 3D, and maybe there are some people fighting in it or whatever. It's also a great refresher on some of your favorite 90s action movie dialogue clichés.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill implore you to "GO GO GO!" and "MOVE MOVE MOVE!" lest you be "s*** out dead without warning" before enjoying Avatar!

The best riffs are the ones on movies that take themselves deathly serious. Speed Racer and Chihuaha don't hold themselves up as having an ECO MESSAGE or anything pompous or pretentious like that. Avatar takes itself so ridiculously serious that it will be an awesome riff.

Also, it's like 10 years long! That's so much bang for your riffing buck!

I've only seen 5 or so, but the funniest I've seen so far was The Phantom Menace. I almost wish I owned the movie so I could watch the rifftrax again.

The Room had the potential to be the funniest rifftrax if it weren't for the long sex scenes, in which they do these little skits with Disembodio instead of rifftraxing.

The Room is a masterpiece of awful. Nothing will ever stand up to it. It is awful for the ages. It's understandable that the rifftrax for it almost paled in comparison. They show the un-riffed movie on Adult Swim from time to time and I watched it before I saw the rifftrax-ed version. All I can say is that I sat with my mouth agape during the whole thing. The sex scenes were amazing. Have any of those people ever actually had sex? It literally looks like what a 6th grade girl thinks sex is. My god. That's all I can say. My god.

When I was watching it I kept thinking "is he trying to have sexy with her belly button?"

I can understand why they had to do the skits during the sex scenes though because there's nothing really to comment on other than their general disgust for the actors.
