Paging frozenphil, how built up/stock are the internals to accomplish that?

You can do it stock, but better rods and pistons will make it last someplace other than a dyno. I doubt he has much more in it than just rods and pistons at that horsepower level. You don't really need cams, port work, etc... to get to 1k horsepower with a 3.4 Whipple on a GT500. Hellion did it with a stock engine and a twin turbo kit using 57mm turbos.

Wasn't that loud, didn't spin up on the rollers, buck up on it's suspension etc etc. Most 1000whp cars are a bit mental, even on the dyno. That thing's seriously well sorted.

That's a dude off of the vintage-mustangs.com forums from several years back. There was a big thread about his idea of putting Cleveland heads on a stroked Windsor block never working and that video was the proof that it could work. He kinda brought back the whole Clevor thing.

BTW, that little 408 tops out at 9500RPM.

Which was why I posted it. That car is mental because it's pedestrian.

Also while not that loud, it sounds like a bomb goes off when he starts pulling.

Quite the understatement. Shouldn't they like, you know, test for that sort of thing? Or is everything just "the computer simulation says this will work so go ahead and make it and put it on a track" nowadays?

I'm assuming that the factor of safety is extremely low on race cars. Higher factor of safety = more weight. Something as simple as a small dent from a rock that was kicked up could have put the part over the edge.

It was the right-front upright that failed. STR apparently was running new parts, and they broked. The reason why the wheels flew off was because the tethers holding the wheels on were tethered to the part of the car that cracked.

I think this driver's brain melted, too. If you watch, you'll see him trying to steer away from the wall... with no loving wheels. I guess steering is something that's ingrained in you.

What's also impressive is how high the tyres bounce off the fence - there's some serious hang time / distance they got after they left the track. That was incredible luck no one was killed.
